# **So... A Game About Bread, Eh?**
> [**HolyBread.io**](https://www.holybread.io?ref=stuffbyspencer) is a semi-new game that came to Steem and, of course, I picked it up & started playing it. Is it any fun? What am I doing in it? Why am I wearing this salesman tie? **All That & More Answered Below!**

## `CHAPTER #1: What's It Taste Like?`

With no disrespect meant towards the developers, I think the best way to describe HolyBread is: *it's simple*.

Simple to get into & understand, and most of the game is waiting. I'm a huge fan of idle games like Cookie Clicker, Clicker Heroes, and Candybox. So when I found out that HolyBread, in a lot of ways, played in a similar way, I was not turned off by the concept.

Being able to have a game running in the background where I can just casually check-in on once & awhile is a cozy feeling for me.

Best part? The game's progression seems rather fair to me so far! It doesn't really feel too "pay-to-win" like. In fact, I didn't have to put any money into the game in order to grind my way from rank > 1,000 something in the arena to < 300. Everything has so far felt rather fair & balanced.

Summary of gameplay == Go on quests, wait for rewards, collect loot, fill up energy, repeat quests, get strong, fight battles against other Steemians.

##### **The gameplay isn't for everyone,** *but it can offer a lot of joy for casual players.*

## `CHAPTER #2: Why Are These Breadcrumbs Everywhere?`

So, why would you want to fight against other Steemians in the arena and rise up in rank? Well, other than potentially having an blood thirsty ego complex like I do, it's also how you earn more **breadcrumbs**!

Breadcrumbs are the main way to earn some small profits while playing this game. Basically, you want to save up enough breadcrumbs and then you transfer them to Steem-Engine, where the **@holybread** team uses the pool of Steem that players spend each week to buy back the breadcrumb tokens.

## `CHAPTER #3: Buying A Bakery`

So... Bet ya didn't know you could also buy items from other people in this game, did ya...

I'm serious when I said I made it to around rank 300 without spending money. BUT! Then this shit kept happening:

**I KEPT FUCKING LOSING ARENA FIGHTS >:^(**

I decided that it'd be a fun experiment to spend a small amount of *STEEM* and see how far I can profit from this small investment. So, that's exactly what I did!

Relax! Relax. It's not really that much. In total, I spent 20.183 STEEM, which is ~$5.14. Not too bad, it's basically like buying a slightly higher priced mobile game.

And? What did buying that equipment get me?

My goal is to get into sub 100 rank within the month. So far so good:

Now, the problem is it'll take quite a bit of time to make up that $5 investment just by selling breadcrumbs...

#### In closing, I'd like to end with a message to the dev-team of upcoming features I'd love to see added:
* Show my current team stats when I'm looking at opponents in the arena, so I know who I have a fighting chance against
* Show my equipped item stats when I check out other items in the shop & market, so I know if I'm upgrading or not
* Allow for some way of increasing rate of energy fill, either via a premium purchase or even better spending breadcrumbs / bread / destroying items
* Create some use case for breadcrumbs other than selling on Steem-Engine, maybe I could combine them into full breads? Or "feed" them to my heroes for exp. gain?
* Ability to directly send / transfer items, heroes, breadcrumbs, and bread to other players ( *for giveways, gifting, etc.* )
