0.000 HBDCrying Cows in our Backyard?
Last weekend, while I was doing the laundry in the back of our house, it started to rain. And in the past few years, during the rainy season, there's a phenomenon that happens. We typically hear this sound. https://youtu.be/Rj_-DNN037E Sounds like a crying cow, doesn't it? And of course, it's not really cows. The sound comes from much smaller creations.
๐ง๐ง๐ง๐ง๐ง๐ง๐ง๐ง๐ง**WARNING**๐ง๐ง๐ง๐ง๐ง๐ง๐ง๐ง๐ง

**There are photos of frogs below.**

**๐ธ**

**๐ธ**

**๐ธ**

**๐ธ**

**๐ธ**

**๐ธ**

**๐ธ**
This looks like a scene from a creature feature film. I saw this little frog hopping towards the source of the sound. As it turns out, those loud bellows were mating calls from the male frogs. Here comes another young lady, single and ready to mingle. Please excuse my potato camera. Then comes the biggest one. She may be one of the first ones that arrived in our yard. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pRNMymo-NoE After a while, it became a frog orchestra. At first, it was a nuisance to us especially in the evening as we try to sleep. But over the years, we grew accustomed to them and we were no longer bothered by the sound. But what are they exactly? I've never heard of such frogs in Manila even when I was a kid and there still were plenty of open spaces. A quick Google search led me to this Facebook video from [GMA's Born to be Wild](https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=196102479393078).

So they are actually banded bullfrogs, chubby frogs, or bubble frogs. They are originally from China and are considered an invasive species. So that's probably why I've never heard of it before. And as with other non-native animals, they upset the balance of the ecosystem. But for us, we don't plan to hunt them down or anything as they are most likely curbing the population of pests such as flies and other small insects. How about you guys? Do you also have these frogs near your place?

โญ๏ธโญ๏ธ**Calling All Filipino Splinterlands Players**โญ๏ธโญ๏ธ
</h> **Come join the TEAMPH community and let's help each other in this great Splinterlands journey.
