Here are 4 different images taken with 2 different cameras and 4 different lenses.

Both cameras are 24MP. Images 1:1 zoomed in.
Both lenses on Pentax are stopped down to increase sharpness and contrast. They are simply old.
Sigma is hands down the best and also the most expensive lens. What it can do at f1.4 is just magic. Other lenses catch up at smaller apertures.

For me:
1st - Sigma
2nd/3rd - Tamron RXD & Pentax DA*
4th - Tamron XR

Sigma 85mm f/1.4 DG DN Art was made in 2020. Costs about 1100$ new. Around 800$ used.
Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8 Di III RXD was made in 2018. Costs about 750$ new. Around 450$ used.
SMC Pentax-DA* 50-135mm F2.8 ED [IF] SDM was made in 2007. Costs about 1100$ new. Around 400$ used.
Tamron SP AF 17-50mm f/2,8 XR Di-II LD was made in 2006. Costs about 400$ new. Around 100$ used.

I know this comparison isn't the best as the lighting differs :D  I just looked at my old photos and wanted to compare what my old lenses could do. They did surprise me a little. They are actually quite sharp.
