Daily Dose of Sultnpapper 11/06/17> about that time change…

Yesterday morning I was so focused on getting my daily dose blog out I forgot to mention the time change. I wrote a short while back how I believe it is ridiculous and how it affects my “body clock”. Well it did, and it does.

Sunday morning, thanks to the time change, I was up at 5:15AM instead of the normal 6:15AM. I say normal but that isn’t totally true, normal for me falls between 5:45 and 6:15 so I awoke at what would have been the later part of normal, had the time not been changed . I think my body knew it was Sunday and would let me sleep in a little.

The US government thinks they know what is best for me and the other people here and so they like to screw things up twice a year by changing the time on the clocks. Well the saying is “you can’t fool mother nature” but I don’t know that saying is correct any longer.

My simple mind tells me that you can pretty much forget about using that saying because science and the practitioners of that religion, scientists, have been busy for the last several decades doing things that are fooling Mother Nature every day. It may not even have been the scientists who started it either; it may have been the people who run citrus fruit tree farms, or the people who grow roses for a production crop.

Both of those industries use a process of grafting root stock. Grafting is taking plant material from the desired plant and cutting a piece off and attaching it to a different species of plant that has a stronger root system. That has been going on my entire lifetime that I can remember, so that is more than a half of a century. That would be fooling Mother Nature, right?

Now you have animals being cloned, plants being genetically modified and a host of different things that I’m sure these scientists haven’t even told us about taking place. We do know that they have done some things with insects too that have lead to serious outbreaks of disease. What better way than to keep yourself in business by creating problems that you will then be paid to solve.

That is like the man who owns a glass repair service going around at night is his area shooting out windows with a BB gun. He is sure he’ll have business in the morning, especially if there are few shops in the area.

Back to the time change, I guess the government thinks I have a harder time seeing in the morning darkness than I do in the evening darkness. Personally I do better with the morning darkness, I am just coming off of a night’s sleep and after a few cups of coffee I’m ready to take on the world. Even though it may be dark I am wide awake, eyes wide open.

The same can’t be said for evening darkness. My eyes in the evening are more likely to be tired toward the end of the daylight period. Bright sunlight takes a toll on the eyes, even if you wear sunglasses, the pupils are constantly in a state of constriction in order to limit the brightness entering the eye. So by the time darkness comes my eyes are more than happy to close and send me off to sleep. The problem is that darkness will be coming at 6:00 PM, there is still a lot of activity to be done at 6:00PM, by mid December darkness will be in the 5:00 PM range, rush hour is barely going by the time it is dark. More accidents occur in evening rush hour than morning rush hour during the fall and winter where I live.

So, for the next week or ten days I will be waking earlier and struggling to stay awake longer while my subconscious mind resets my body clock. If I come across as angry, it is because I am.

Until next time,
