 <b><I>Streaming</I></b> is a technology that sends multimedia information through the transfer of data in computer networks. Users view a multimedia file over the internet. The big difference between <b><I>Streaming</I></b> and a <b><I>Download</I></b> is the type of servers and protocols they use, on the other hand, the displayed file is not saved and stored in a folder like a download. The quality of the view depends on the quality of the client's connection and the rate of transmission that can be achieved.  <center><h2>The Youtube Era</h2></center> On the internet, <I>YouTube</I> is one of the most popular online video sharing platforms where users can upload and view audiovisual content. This is a service where <I>Streaming</I> is in constant use and the number of views becomes absurd. The most viewed video to date, about <I>8 million</I> simultaneous views is the jump of <b>Felix Baumgartner</b>, the <I>Austrian</I> who jumped from the stratosphere. Currently, this platform already allows the broadcasting of live video, live streaming either by users or events. Nowadays the highest percentage of Internet traffic comes from the video, data taken from the <b>Cisco</b> report, and the one responsible for much of this slice is exactly real-time video streaming. With the analysis of the article, <b>Cisco</b> is expected that the traffic to circulate in global networks in <I>2018</I> be greater than the sum of all traffic in previous years! Although in this article the main focus is live streaming video and audio there is only audio streaming, with online radios and only video streaming through the surveillance cameras.  <center><h2>The Technology of Livestreams</h2></center> When the client connects to a server that is broadcasting, an audio or video file is played. The procedure behind the simple act of watching a streaming stream is a bit more complex. A client when starting the streaming builds a buffer, where it stores the information and when it fills up means that it is ready to stream. While the user is viewing the content, the content is receiving new data from the server. Nowadays it is still not possible to transmit live without a short delay (about one second), due to the encoding and transmission of the signal, however, the system is prepared so that if there is a signal breakage, the file continues to be played using information stored in the buffer.  <center><h2>Different Applications</h2></center> Nowadays there are lots of applications to watch live concerts, sports games, your favorite TV channel and any other event being broadcast. Applications can offer <b>free</b> or <b>paid services</b> depending on the type of task you want. It has also become possible to access such content through mobile devices, provided they have an internet connection. <center></center> Youtube is one of the most well-known and used platforms worldwide, and about two years ago it announced the transmission of live video to all channels that so wish. The only requirement is to have verified account and no videos blocked by legal issues. The live streaming feature was first tested by a small group of users selected by <b>Google</b>.
