Here is a look back at my 2020....

Nah. Fuck that. The year has been shit. I will have a look later. 

There were highlights of course, the excitement of selling our apartment and buying a house and watching Smallsteps grow massively in independence , but there was also all of the other nonsense that went along with it, the Panpanic, the crazy, the renovation process and budget blowouts. Between all of this, there was the drama on Steem and the move to Hive. Both an up and a down simultaneously. 

2020 was meant to be the year of vision, where clarity about the future was meant to be the focal point and the building of it could begin in earnest. Yet, it turned into a clusterfuck where instead of building, many of us and definitely me, had to fight for survival instead - as well as for toilet paper.

This year I have come close to losing the business I have built over the last 7 years and I do not know if it will ever recover fully. As I am sure it has been for many small business owners, the year has been very frustrating and at times, heartbreaking. Watching something that took a lot of blood, sweat and tears to build, get driven into the ground by circumstance, while money is flowing heavily to the few, makes me quite angry, but there is very little that can be done except to grin and bear it, hoping to hold on long enough to have something salvageable when things improve - if they improve.

I think there was vision and planning for the future this year, it is just that it was made by the elite to change conditions further in their economic favor, by developing more tools of control of the global population. The "new normal" is one of opting-in to being tracked by the government by "choice", having governments bring in laws unseen, having them print amounts of money unheard of in history and have them hand it out to those deemed worthy - themselves.

While I am hopeful that 2021 is going to be better, I am also realistic in my assumption that it *isn't* going to be, at least when it comes to the way governments work. I see that while there will be a decrease in support for the average person, there will be increased support for businesses and institutions to extend the wealth gaps even further. 

I also think that there will be a great deal more social unrest to come, as more will awake to the realization of what is happening, while simultaneously reach the end of their tether in regards to the imposed rules. Global society is a tinder box waiting for a spark - and there are already spot fires burning all of the place - add an extended period of lockdowns combined with economic hardship, and it will explode.

While I hope that it wouldn't be bloody, I get the sense that we are leading toward a lot of disruption that is going to get increasingly violent. There is going to be pain involved and for many, it won't be in a foreign country on the other side of the world, it will be on the doorstep and in the home itself. It is a shame that it could come to this because a small minority of people's quest for more power and control. While this group is nothing new to the world, the reach they have through the tools they posses are and they are more skilled than most think at using them - don't be fooled. 

But, all we can do is our best and for me, that means continuing on working as best I can to provide for myself and family, whilst still maintaining a community view of the world. It might be naïve, but unless we want to survive under a narrow rule of the elite, we have to learn to thrive as a community. This means that a great deal of unlearning has to take place, so new behaviors can fill old habits.

It is possible to be a force of change for the better in this world each day and the more that do it, the less reach each requires. This is the value of a decentralized movement for improvement - many hands make light work - many hands can both build and *demolish.* The old economy and structures need to be demolished, new systems and infrastructure needs to take its place. Perhaps 2021 is your year to make a change for the better - perhaps you already have.
