<div class="text-justify"> >What kind of place do you want Hive to be for other users? We often hear and talk about Hive as a community, and even what we want Hive to be. Yet, this is always going to be influenced by our own opinions. It is inescapable - we can't have objective opinions. However, what we can do is maybe change the way we look at what we want for Hive by thinking about what we want it to be for other people on Hive; *old, new and yet to arrive.* This way, we can perhaps reflect and change our own behaviours to better align with what we want *for others.* --- >### Note **There is a Poll below - but add more things into your comments. Good, thoughtful comments will get rewarded. Good, thoughtful posts that continue this conversation can be linked to a good thoughtful comment, and they will get rewarded to. I will try and get some additional support from others with stake to have a read also.** --- > ## Financials *First since this is where many concentrate their attention.* I am oldschool as a Hiver and still believe that the best thing for Hive, is having a community of people who support each other - this includes *financial support.* If a person comes in and earns on Hive, but doesn't leave any powered up to support people like them, then Hive doesn't grow as an economy. What those people are doing are relying on the people who have stake to be effective distributors, but aren't becoming a distribution node themselves. This ultimately leads to a consolidation of resources into fewer hands, creating a wealth gap, because just like in the "real world", if we don't invest into ourselves, others and our communities to be owners and distributors - the rich get richer. I want Hive to be a place where people can earn and benefit in their walking lives from Hive, but also a place that they are willing to invest some of their earnings into so they can reward and empower others to do the same. This way, they are able to increasingly support others here and help more people benefit, without relying on larger and larger stakeholders forever. Not only this - it creates a sink for HIVE, that ultimately will increase the value of HIVE, meaning what each stakeholder distributes is worth more, curation is worth more, and there is more incentive to be part of the Hive community, to both earn from and reward *others.* > # Witnesses *Most people have no idea what witnesses do these days.* And this is largely the witnesses fault. There used to be a time where people would complain about "Hive content" as if it was something negative and inward facing, but in my view, it is a huge positive. Real Hive content (not the "to the moon" shit some people post) gives the opportunity for everyday users to learn about the aspects of Hive that are hidden in the real world - the underlying technologies, how it impacts on different mechanisms, how users interact with each other and projects, and all other aspects that are Hive-related. This conversation *is vital* for a healthy community, otherwise Hive replicates the model of the real world, where decisions are proxied to governments, and the average person has *no idea* what is actually happening. I wish that witnesses would step up and see that part of their role is to be part of the community, not just make sure that their servers are running and the price feed is updated. Some are devs, some are community leaders, some are complete unknowns - but it would be great for the majority of the users if witnesses drove real conversations that included people. Not to do what the people want, but to get people interested and excited about possibilities and what is in development, and how it might affect them and the communities they value. This would go a long way to engaging many users. > # Content *Content is what makes Hive unique.* But, it has to be *unique content.* For instance, Hive could essentially just be something that records all of the transactions on the Bitcoin network, just in case it fails. However, where is the value in that? Similarly, if the content on Hive is AI-generated, plagiarised, spun, or available with a simple search from any number of other sources - where is the value? Hive shouldn't be an information aggregator, it should be a place where real people interact with each other and share and learn from each other. It should be personal. Especially today, the internet is filled with a whole host of cookie-cutter content driven by algorithms that encourage people to create what they are incentivised to create. While there are "people" involved, the majority is not a realistic view of life experience, nor does it create much public discourse that leads to positive change. The world is a fucking mess and it is only going to get worse *for us* if we keep leaving everything up to politicians and billionaires. The content of our lives, matters. > # People *Luck last?* Yeah, I want Hive to be a welcoming place for users, but just like I don't want my city streets to be filled with drug addicts, rapists, and people who drive like crazy and run over children - I don't want the Hive community to be supportive of *all people regardless of how they behave.* If we want a strong, healthy community, we have to build a culture that rewards healthy behaviours, and punishes unhealthy behaviours. Sure, there might be a lot of nuance and caveat mixed into the personal opinions, but in general, *it should be pretty bloody easy* to understand what is decent behaviour, and what is being a dick. > The first rule of Hive: *Don't be a dick.* Rule of thumb: If you are scared to be caught for your behaviour - *you are probably being a dick.* And we shouldn't be scared to call people out if we think they are being a dick. We have an immutable way through comments and maybe they have a really good reason for their particular behaviour, maybe not. But, this is a community much like a tribe, where everyone's behaviour impacts in some way on the entire community, so if you think someone is acting against the best interest of the community, speak up. Yep, it might create some drama - but *that is okay.* Because not asking, not speaking up, not creating drama, tends to lead to *much more violent drama.* > Look at the world today. I want the average users of Hive to have the experience of getting value, and *giving value* to others, because both feel good. I want them to be able to improve their local lives, as well as be an active part of improving the local lives of others around the world. I want the average user to feel that they are part of making the community and the world a better place by taking some responsibility for their actions, outcomes and the wellbeing of others. I want the average user to feel that they are making their lives, and the lives of others better - to the point that they can reflect on it and objectively prove that this is the case. --- There is a lot of "I wants" in there, because I can't speak for others. But, I really hope that Hive can be a place that improves the wellbeing of users by helping them recognise that they have power and influence over the wellbeing of others. Society isn't an individual endeavour - we are all in it together and as such, can all play a role in the improvement, or the degradation of wellbeing and experience. Taraz [ Gen1: Hive ] </div>
