<div class="text-justify"> It has only taken a handful of years, but *finally* I have a MAX Quora Gladiator. The only reason I have been able to get it to max is by spending glint and getting more merits to spend on packs. What has been annoying is that I have barely got any legendaries, even though I am also spending potions and have opened heaps of packs. The benefit of the maxed Quora is minimal, as all it gains is an additional melee attack point, but who knows, perhaps it makes a difference. Quora used to be on most people's wish list, but as newer releases have come in regular sets, many of the gladiators are pretty lame, with the exception of the no-attack ones, because Weapons Training has made them very useful in all formats. > Would be nice to get some wins. # Splinterlands Proposal Support When Splinterlands started (as Steemmonsters on Steem), I wasn't overly interested in it for numerous reasons, the main one being that I wasn't gaming at all at the time. However, what a lot of people might not remember, is that the reason for the success of Steemmonsters was that it got a massive amount of support from the Steem community, who not only invested into the game directly, but also used *a lot* of their Steem to invest into the game too. >Individuals backing their web3 experience is a big usecase for the blockchain. Now on Hive, we have ways to fund development through the Decentralized Hive Fund, which allows for proposals to be submitted and funded based on the votes of staked users. The way this works is that once a proposal is submitted which outlines what it is for and the amount asked per day, those with Hive Power can vote and put their weight behind to show support. In order to pass and get funded, the proposal needs to get over the amount in the return proposal by @gtg, which currently sits at almost 28 million Hive Power. This return proposal doesn't earn anything, just think about it as a bar that a proposal submission needs to get over to get funded. Once reached, the proposal will start getting funded on the date it is set to start for the length of the proposal *as long as the support level* remains over the return proposal amount. This means that a proposal can also be *defunded* at any time by removing votes. This means that if any abusive actions or if a proposal isn't returning enough value to the community, its support is easy to remove. ## Splinterlands Support proposal At the moment, Splinterlands needs some community support to help with its development and return to a point of stability and profitability. @yabapmatt has created a proposal looking for support looking for 2777 HBD a day in order to help the Splinterlands development. That sounds like a lot, doesn't it? But, in terms of development for a game such as Splinterlands, it is very little indeed. ## I am supporting it Now, just so you know, while I am a relatively large investor into Splinterlands, @yabapmatt and I haven't always seen eye to eye on things *well before* Steemmonsters started, but after meeting him in Krakow back in 2018, we parted amiably. While still not a player or investor int the game at that point, I recognized that the importance of the gaming development on Steem (now Hive) is vital for the community, whether I was playing or not. > It still is. If you want to support this proposal like I am, you can use the link below and click support. If you want to remove your support at a later date if you think it isn't worth it, just go into the proposal screen and unsupport it. https://peakd.com/me/proposals/315 If you want to read the proposal, there is a link there, but you can get straight to it from this link. https://peakd.com/splinterlands/@splinterlands/splinterlands-dhf-proposal ## The Splinterlands Community >Now, this is where it gets a bit sticky. One of my biggest complaints about the Splinterlands community is that the majority don't invest back into the Hive ecosystem and especially Hive Power. Most of the gamers there don't seem to see the need in doing so, and will rather spend their money and earning on cards and game assets, rather than *the very infrastructure* that makes it all possible. Splinterlands is a web3 game and as such, requires *decentralized* infrastructure to operate. You might not care about whether your game is decentralized in this way or not, *but you should.* > If you want to be in crypto - do it properly. As we can probably see from the proposal is that the largest supporters of the proposal, aren't necessarily even Splinterlands players themselves. A lot of the Splinterlands players who might have been on the blockchain for many years, have almost zero (relatively) Hive Power, despite them earning a huge amount in Splinterlands assets over the years. What this means is that instead of being part of securing the infrastructure of the game that has helped them earn so handsomely, they have either bought back into Splinterlands, or siphoned value out to something else. Some of these players have earned very, very well over the years and should have been building into HP also, *in my opinion.* > If they had, this proposal would have no issues in passing, would it? The value of the 28,000,000 HIVE POWER return proposal is currently only 6 million dollars worth of HIVE. Now that sounds like a lot, but remember that over the last years of Splinterlands, the amount of value that has been generated through the game has been *immense.* Part of the value proposition of Splinterlands itself is owning assets, and I think it is time that players started recognizing that the infrastructure of the game is an asset also. Not only this, had the community of Splinterlands players been regularly doing this, they would have also been able to better support the player-generated content in the Hive community, by rewarding it, rather than relying on the Splinterlands account and other non-playing stakeholders to reward it instead. Crypto and blockchain is about empowering users to be able to take control of their financial and consumer experience. Control comes with responsibility and consequences. > Take some responsibility - or pay the consequences. # Powered by Hive As said, despite my complaints about how many of the Splinterlands community has failed to support their own game development, I am supporting the proposal anyway, because it is good for the *Hive community* that Splinterlands not only survives, but thrives. It ahs brought a huge amount of people into crypto and I hope it will bring many, many more. I also hope that in the future, @yabapmatt and the devs do a better job of value sharing and encouraging players to take part in the Hive ecosystem also. There are so many benefits to having a *real* decentralized crypto community on Hive, and I believe that we can do a far better job of supporting each other to generate value across the entre ecosystem. The more success there is, the more success there will be. More games, more experiences, more services, more people, *more benefits.* But all of this gets tied together at the blockchain level itself. >Hive could be amazing. It is up to us to MAX it Taraz [ Gen1: Hive ] </div>
