*Flashes gone and the crashes ceased,
the boiling from underneath calmed.
Strikes the heart and drums the soul,
now gone was the fire that was held.
Broken the spell of the voices in song,
cracked beneath whip and in chains.
Choirs of armies marching down street,
boots heavy open the dusted spirit.
Lost to the complacency of certainty,
drowned in a bucket of time wasted.
Tasting victory that was never in reach,
for the rope was never to be reached.
Listing it all like an ode to the giants,
legends that would never exist again.
Chance was taken and mistakes made,
defeat was the only place it would go.
None knew nor could it be ever known,
But each will arrive, strive and then slow.*
