Scent of a Movie
<div class="text-justify">

My wife and I went out to have a meal and see a movie together to mark my birthday and both were a bit disappointing. The restaurant we went to has always been good, but they have changed the menu and the chef or something and, it just wasn't as great. It wasn't bad, but... not as satisfying as it used to be.

The movie, "The Batman" was looooong for what it was and had a lot of superfluous content that just didn't really need to be there. Again, "not bad" but definitely not worth the 8.5 rating on IMDB. But, that wasn't the main thing that ruined it.

We were comfortably in our seats, drink and candy in hand and the trailers were about to begin, when a couple came and sat next to us. The cinema was full and in Finland, the tickets are chosen when you buy them online, so it is luck of the draw, but everyone has a place.

> My eyes narrowed...

*I looked at my wife and crinkled my nose...*

BO.

*Strong BO.*

And, I am 99% sure it was emanating from the woman - which is rare. They both looked normal and clean, but my god did it get stuck in the nostrils. It was over halfway through the movie that my olfactory center was able to climatize and relax slightly and that "halfway" was a normal full movie, since Batman runs almost 3 hours.

Once out and in the car, I could still smell it on me, like it had clogged the pores of my skin and was suffocating me like a boa constrictor and, my wife could smell it too. Once home, it was in my clothes, my hair and I feel that it had taken on a life of its own and like a next day curry, it was getting stronger.

I had to have a shower and I may have to burn everything I was wearing, but even now I can smell it, but I am not sure if it is still clinging to me or, if my body is suffering from PTSD and having flashbacks.

> I am no princess, but it was pretty putrid.

This brought back memories from the past and I told my wife of a time back in my early twenties in Australia, when I went on a movie date with a girl I had met at a bar - a gorgeous girl with a lovely smile.

When I arrived to pick her up, she wasn't quite ready so invited me in so we could talk for a bit while she slipped on a dress. Fine by me. So, we talked for a while and she was funny and smart and even more charming than I had hoped. I thought, this might actually go somewhere. Once ready, we drove to the movies, grabbed some snacks and drinks and went into the cinema to keep chatting away, getting to know each other. All good!

The cinema was pretty much empty, with only one other couple sitting well away from us. As we started to get into the movie more, the girl decided to get a bit more comfortable, slipped off her heels and put her feet up on the chair in front.

> My nose crinkled.

*My eyes watered.*

I am not sure if I can even label it a "smell", as I don't think *stench* even does it justice in description, but it was well, overpowering. And, well, let's just say the scent wasn't wafting up from her feet...

After the movie, I took her back to her place and walked her to her gate and after such great conversation and laughs, she asked,

>You have watched me finish getting dressed, would you like to see me get undressed?

"Umm - no thanks... I have an early morning."

I was a little lost for words and at that age, I didn't have a lot of experience and thankfully to this day, this has been the only such incident even remotely of this kind. However, no matter how beautiful and how great her personality, I just couldn't get it out of my mind.

>Nor nose.

*Some dates are great, some just stink.*

Ever had a bad date?
