What insane days! I am getting pretty worn out, but we are only halfway through the week. at least, the majority of my facilitation is over, with only a half day left tomorrow in what I am hoping will be an easy session. Though, having said that, I am yet to prepare for it at all, but I am hoping that I can shadow the first session delivered by my colleague, and then copy her lead for the second, which has the same program.

As hard it has been on the facilitators, gotta say that the value added has been immense and we are crushing it in terms of the impact we are making on the teams. Yesterday's sessions were region based, meaning a mix of roles that work together from a single region. And today's was role based, so all the same role getting together to improve their processes, skills, and raise whatever issues that come up.

I facilitated full days on both days, working with the relevant leaders to ensure that relevant topics are covered and that people are engaged. This was supported by pre-work tasks I designed that were role specific that aligned and fed into the sessions, to prime for a more valuable and deeper onsite experience.

> It has been rewarding. 

Hard, but rewarding. And now the next part of the evening event begins, which will lead into watching a hockey game together. And then tomorrow, there will be 650-odd people gathered together for company-wide events throughout the day, culminating in a large party. 

It is hard work and energy sapping, to be constantly switched on, interacting with unfamiliar people, trying to get some time with familiar people, end engaging with a very wide range of topics in detail, that are not within my specialty areas. 

One bit of "good" news is though, that an idea I have been developing slowly for the last few months, has been getting more attention, including the owner of the tool I will leverage as the core of the innovation, spoke to the CEO of the company and mentioned the ideas I have for it. Then last night at the awards dinner, I happened to spend some time having a glass of wine with the CEO and a couple colleagues, so that is on his radar too. 

> No pressure.

He is a year older than I am, yet about 25x as intelligent and seems so much more like a grownup than I. It is strange in some sense that he has built this company from scratch, and the idea for it actually started when he was still in primary school. 

> A different life arc.

Sometimes I wonder how different situations would need to have been, or how different I would have had to have been, to end up in the kind of position he is. Perhaps I had the opportunity and never took it. Perhaps even if I had the opportunity, I am not the kind of person who could use it. 

I dunno, and I don't think any of us live up to our full potential, unless we think that what we did, was all we could have done in that moment. This means that no matter how bad our results are, they are the best we can get. I wonder what would have happened if I had an enablement team to support me through life. 


A different trajectory probably. And a different velocity.
