Those who wait
<div class="text-justify">

As I was mowing the lawn, I was thinking back to the short period of late 2017 to early 2018, when the markets were pumping and content creation was getting highly rewarded with what is *insane amounts* compared to today. Many people benefited a lot back then including me, however, I powered up my earnings for the future, when in hindsight I should have sold and bought back. But, would I have bought back?

*Most who sold didn't, so why would I have been any different?*

Staying staked has helped me grow, as I haven't stretched my sell muscles, but I have over time learned to diversify. Some were hits, some were misses, but overall, I am doing okay and I would consider that as far as starting from nothing people go, I would consider myself a somewhat success. However, not enough so that anyone is going to be writing a book about me, nor turn to me for sage advice. After all, I am still working, still have debt, still struggle to make ends meet at times, but I am building.

Building has become very important to me over the last few years, for it has taken on more meaning than being financially secure, as it also goes some way to satisfying my need for a purpose. I am pretty idealistic at times and I do think that what we are doing here has the potential to change the world for the better. But that requires support and since I am limited in what kind of support I can offer, I do what I can.

It is selfish though, as I want the world t be better for me and my family too, so it isn't like I have no horse in the race. Some people like to say they do it for others, but there tends to always be a payoff of some sort present, even if it is a good feeling. Most get far more than that though.

Over the years, some people have made a veritable shitload of money from this platform and community and it has helped thousands of people to do things that they wouldn't have been able to do otherwise. Not only this, it has done it across the globe and often in some of the poorest places on earth, people have benefited. While I would like to see more people power up, I understand that needs come first, though I do questions various aspects of what is needed and what else is being done to meet those needs.

But, I am definitely looking forward to a future where HIVE is +2 and people who have been building are earning some crazy amounts on their posts and content. I find it pretty entertaining that it seems that it wasn't so long ago that I was giving out 5% votes for 7 cents and now the same is 33. 33 cents for a short comment is pretty incredible, isn't it?

10 comments a day for ~$3 might not sound like much, but what 1100 dollars buy you? That is how much it would be in a year. Far more if held in HIVE and the price continues to climb. That is 33 cents at 51 cent HIVE too, so it would be about $1.30 at 2 dollar HIVE. What is interesting is that if voted now and held til that price range, it would be the same as getting the vote then, which is unlikely as not many comments are worth a dollar - though at two dollar Hive, my vote is worth 24 dollars or so, which means that every day I would be voting to the the approximate value of 240 dollars, distributed throughout the community. Weirdly, I think about this future value now, as if it is going to come to pass.

Again.

It has been there before and much higher, but I would like to see, is some stability creeping into the platform, where while there can be a wild ride on the upside, the floor gradually increases as more people spread and hold, realizing the value of staking instead of selling.

3% doesn't sound like much, but this is on HIVE POWER, which means that this is a return that is *on top of* curation, which sits at about 10.5% APR. That is almost 14% a year, for a few clicks. A minimum of 3650 to be precise - 10 per day.

Not too shabby.

As I have been building for years, that amounts to about 65 HIVE a day in curation, or 23,725 a year, plus the 3% which works out to about another 7000. This sounds like a massive amount to most people *on Hive* but it really doesn't amount to that much for many who have investments elsewhere. For me though, at current prices it is about $15,000 dollars worth and if the value did go to $2, it would equate to a yearly salary after tax.

As you can imagine, those who are invested are pretty keen to not only have a significant price rise, but to see the value stay up there for a long period of time. What is brilliant at that point is that many, many thousands of people will be able to literally live off of Hive by building their account here through content creation. As I have said earlier, it isn't and won't be easy for most people - but there is a massive amount of potential.

Of course, the people who see the potential in that future are building now, as they know it is easier to build with less competition whilst the price is low. Not only that, they also know that the value of the token doesn't matter until it is sold - meaning that 10 Hive might be worth 5 dollars today, but at 2 dollars, that same 10 is worth 20. It doesn't matter when it was earned.

However, what does matter about the when is what is done with it in the meantime while waiting for the higher price. Considering that it has been almost 4 years since the last major bull high in early 2018, that means that someone with 100 HIVE would have about 144 Hive four years later due to curation. Add in participation in various ways on top, and that can be much more. I have seen account grow organically without buying from zero to orca status in that time, meaning that if that 2 dollars arrives, their account will be 100,000+ worth.

>Worth four years work writing, engaging, having a bit of faun each day in ways that most people do on the internet anyway?

While I might look back in the day, a few years from now, people will be looking back at this day and reminiscing also. Four years is an incredibly short time, especially if you consider that it has the potential to be financially lifechanging, but to take advantage requires activity and probably, a healthy dose of belief that it is possible at all.

I believe it is possible, which is why I am considered a Hive shill by many. However, I believe it has a great deal of potential in the future and, I have seen it benefit so many in the past. Literally thousands upon thousands of people have gained by being on Hive and it is going to keep happening for years to come, with that number set to swell as the entire crypto industry scales up and attracts more into the fold.

*Good things come to those who participate.*

At least, I will keep behaving as if that is true, because that is what I believe.
