[Source](https://www.thestreet.com/story/13457149/1/3-rules-for-surviving-a-bear-market.html)
My mindset is on the long term prospects of Steem. I am not so concerned where things are now as much as I am focusing upon a couple years down the road. The industry we are involved in is an evolving one. It is going to take some time to radically transform what is happening in the world. The shift form centralized control to decentralized systems will take some time. The masses are not ready and, quite frankly, the technology is not there either at this point. That will not always be the case. Today, I was messaging a developer on here an idea we were mulling over. It is something that is going to expand, we feel, the reach of this blockchain. It targets a market that is not even on any crypto-projects radar yet contains tens of millions of people around the world. Many of the crypto naysayers claim that this industry "solves no real world problems". We are looking at changing that if possible.
[Source](https://thegibraltarmagazine.com/buying-others-possibilities-pitfalls/buyer-of-the-building/)
I am a buyer of STEEM. For me, this is a gift from the heavens that I cannot turn down. As most of you know I already made three buys and have one more, at a minimum, left in me. At this point, I am looking at this as accumulation time. @stackin had a post yesterday detailing his goal of hitting Orca status by the end of 2019. This is an admirable goal for and got me thinking, why not? To achieve this, I believe, will require more buying. The best way for me to get there is to have the price of STEEM drop even further. I do not know if it will happen but I am ready. Yesterday I wrote in a post about the 10.000 Minnow Challenge. With the price of STEEM at slightly above 40 cents, one with zero SP could become a Minnow for a bit over $200. Of course, many have some SP so it would take less to reach that goal. The reason I chose 10K is because we are slightly over 1,000 Minnows away from there. With over 90K Planktons, 1K being able to power up at the cost of $200 does not seem outlandish. Looking at the number of accounts in each category along with the MVests held, it appears the Orcas and Dolphins are the ones taking advantage of the price pullback. I know a few smaller accounts that took the opportunity to add and I think it will turn out well. With what was being discussed today, a couple projects like that could send STEEM flying. Here is the point I think many people miss. I am so optimistic about Steem because this blockchain has the potential to be whatever we want it to be. There are few limits to what can end up being tied to this blockchain. The content/reward system opens up so many possibilities for success. Imagination is truly the only limiting factor here. I read an article earlier in the day, which I cannot find now to link, that discussed blockchain and how it basically was time to "shut up" and produce something people use. The essence of the article was that nobody cares about blockchain; their concern is what they use. I agree with this completely. Steem is giving people stuff to use and there is a lot more of it coming. We are already on the path to the next evolutionary phase. The idea of mentioning blockchain when discussing something on here will be as odd as bringing up TCP/IP when talking about Facebook. Almost nobody cares about that. I know I am not the only one talking with other people about ideas that can be mind blowing and really change things. It is happening all over the place. While we need more developers to make their way to this blockchain, the ones that are here are outstanding. @steemmonsters is not going to be the only one to have an enormous amount of success.
[Source](http://www.ofis-soft.com/en/ofis-soft/research-and-development-process.html)
The key for me all year was to keep watching the development. 2018 is going sensational for Steem. The coin, STEEM, has not fared so well yet that is aiding my ability to power up. Leaving that aside, we have a ton of applications that are being improved on a regular basis. There are also more on the way. I foresee another magical year in 2019 for Steem. Will the bear still be around then? I have no idea. If it is, I will still be a buyer. I am one who feels each SP I get is going to really reward me down the road. Therefore, if you see the price of STEEM in the neighborhood of 30 cents, watch for my purchase order to float by because I will be sending one. ____ If you found this article interesting, please give it an upvote and resteem. None of this is financial advice. I am merely relaying the plan I have and how I view things. Make sure you do your own due diligence and seek out the input from the proper people.
