Over the last couple weeks, I tried to highlight some of the ways that commerce is coming to the Steem blockchain. This is a major shift of moving towards a viable ecosystem. It is one thing to get the coins distributed via the reward pool. However, true growth will come by interesting businesses in what we are doing. The Internet is presently monetized, for the most part, by two models. Advertising is a big part of what funds the commerce on the web. Ecosystems are created and heavily guarded so as to parlay the traffic into advertising revenue. The other model is, of course, selling of data. Both of these accounts for billions of dollars online. Steem, like all decentralized blockchains, has a different model. The tokenization process means there is a way to create revenue without following either of these two paths. That said, both models are viable as their success shows. The challenge is who is profiting from these systems. We know Google, Facebook, etal are raking in huge sums of money off the efforts of their users. The centralized system gives them all the control, hence proceeds. They might give the content creators a smidgen of the revenue as in the case of Adsense but we know this is very little. Many questioned when we would see advertising come to Steem and how it would look. I am here to tell you that advertising is now available on Steem just like the other social media networks. @dclick is the first advertising system, that I am aware of, on the Steem blockchain. This is designed to reward content creators to can generate clicks from the followers of their posts. Unlike Adsense, this is expected to be a more profitable venture for individuals. >I’m sure most of you are aware of Google AdSense. The Prototype is similar to Google AdSense. You receive rewards from the clicks of links and views of clips from any blogs (Steemit or other platforms) or movies via DCLICK. However, the producers receive more rewards compared to AdSense and advertisers can promote with almost free of charge because of Token Economy. The system is very simple. Clicks for coins. The dashboard shows how much is earned on a daily and weekly basis. Some interesting features. This system pays no matter who clicks the ads. At present, rewards are earned only from Steemians. With @dclick, the coins are earned based upon the total number of clicks. Hence, readers of posts or people surfing by can earn one money. The second feature is that the coins are earned even after 7 days. While the payout on the post still remains within the Steem blockchain parameter, the clicks can keep going. It will be recorded the same as it does elsewhere. One of the drawbacks to the Steem blockchain is the fact that content is only revenue generating for 7 days and then it is done. With @dclick, there is the possibility to keep earning beyond that. What is exciting about this is that the companies looking at advertising are going to have to bring money to the table. This is reaching the outside world to create commerce. Of course, this is a situation where the content creators make the money as opposed to the mega-platforms we see in the traditional social media world. >It’s similar to Steemit’s economy. When producers make clicks, token are issued and given to the producers. Advertisers prepay advertisement expenses by Steem to proceed with advertisements. You receive tokens as payback of advertisement expenses at regular intervals just like Steem Powerdowns. The payments’ ratio and waiting time is based on the proportion of issued tokens from clicks. https://steemit.com/dclick/@dclick/introducingdclick-an-incentivized-ad-platform-by-proof-of-click-steem-based-adsense-1540337222060 Their logo tells a lot of the story. This really epitomizes the token economy. Here we see the paradigm shift to crypto-economics before our eyes. The traditional model is followed to the letter, the only different is who is compensated. Under Adsense, Google takes home the majority of the proceeds. With @dclick, the exact opposite is true. Also, we see another token that will use the SMT protocol. This is also part of crypto-economics since new tokens are created via the blockchain to reward people. It is what will create the paradigm shift since people will start to be rewarded where they previously were not. The destruction of the establishment is not going to happen all at once. In fact, it will be the exact opposite. It will take millions of different "cuts" before this paper is completely shredded. ___ If you found this article informative, please give it an upvote and resteem.
