There is something that got lost the last few weeks with all the hoopla taking place on here.  We are witness to both the good and the bad.  One thing Steem is good for these days is a bit of drama.

No matter.  We are seeing a lot of development taking place which will start to attract a great deal of attention.  When that will start is anyone's guess but the applications are looking better.

One thing that seemed to be resolved with Steemit Inc is their approval of accounts.  This slowed to almost zip a number of weeks back.  After the layoffs, this made sense since survival mode was the highest priority.

Of late, the activity is much different.  We saw an increase in the number of new accounts, most of then still through Steemit.  While the applications are picking up a few here and there, I would say 90% are still from Steemit.  

Using Arcange's charts, we see how different things are looking from a few weeks ago.

Over the past couple weeks, we see the range of daily accounts between 500-1000.  Let us be realistic here:  these are not Facebook type numbers but it is a marked improvement.  With all that is taking place, the fact that new Steemians are joining is a positive sign.

Impact is being made in my watch of the number of accounts hitting certain levels of Steem Power.  After a couple weeks of going negative, we had back-to-back positive weeks of accounts getting their first SP.  This week, through 3 days, we see an even bigger uptick.

This week, we saw 251 accounts register their first SP with almost 4 days to go.  I am going to presume the increase in new signups had an impact on this.

Ultimately, we need to keep the ecosystem growing.  Yes, there will be a lot of people who sign up for an account and do nothing.  We realize that.  However, playing the numbers game, of the hundreds of accounts that sign up each day, perhaps we can get a few dozen who become very active members.  This is aided by the fact that there are a number of people who sign up through some of the applications each day.  I am optimistic these people stand a greater chance of sticking around.

We are still very early in the cryptocurrency game.  99.99999999999999999999% of the entire world never heard of Steem or any of the applications on this blockchain.  It is still an undiscovered gem laying in the weeds.  We just need to keep moving forward each day and building upon what is here.

Doing that will ultimately lead to much bigger numbers.  

Remember, it took a while for the Internet to get it's first billion users.
