This is is where the rowing and sailing events for the 2008 Beijing Olympics were held. Qingdao is nicknamed "The sailing City," and is about the Size of Chicago and slightly larger than London.
The large red sculpture is a monument to a Pro-democracy movement in China around 1917. The movement lost support after the allies failed to honor their promises to return occupied land in China after the end of WW1.
