Is Russia really going to ban bitcoin? Fact or Fud?

According to the deputy finance minister of Russia, Alexey Moiseev, pending legislation on cryptocurrencies are just around the corner for Russia along with the possibility of a ban on all payments made in cryptocurrency.

It seems Russian politicans have backslid after saying just months ago that bitcoin should be classified as a kind of asset in Russia and limited to qualified investors.

However on a brighter note, this issue is still an open one and will be debated heavily in the State Duma, Russia's national legislature.

According to authorities on the matter a bill is expected to be passed in October of 2017.

Finally it seems that Russia's deputy finance minister had this to say about the issue.

"I think we will determine it within a month. I think in October, and then we will discuss it before submitting it," he said.
