With the advent of home gaming, there have been many myths floating around about certain consoles but mostly the games on them. Some of the more hyped up myths such as the Lara croft Nude cheat was actually distributed by the game developers to draw in more people to buy the game, which actually worked very well. It just took them nearly 20 years to admit it at the 2014 E3 event. (FYI; there is no nude cheat, only modders made a patch for the game so you could view her square nipples.) After reading on a few developer sites, forums and usual tinterwebiness, I found a few of those myths that actually turned out to be true after all. This lead many gamers to believe that the game was just a stage show and the person playing the game was the audience. This Myth was confirmed some years after the initial launch of the game by Nintendo and the Mario Creator himself. If however you have played the game you may know that the basic pistol is overpowered compared to other weapons, leading to the belief that this was intentional. The Bungie development team confirmed as much, saying, 'Most FPS gamers always like to play with and find the biggest and most powerful gun they can, similar to the BFG in Doom, we thought it would be funny that the most powerful one should be something unexpected'. Rumours had spread amongst players about an alien that was cut from the Half Life 2 game that raped players. (yeah, I had to take a second look too). The Alien would whip you, tackle the player to the ground and force itself onto you, hip motions and all. The Developers let slip that the alien had to be removed to keep in line with age restriction laws. So beheading, dismemberment is OK but a horny alien isn't?  [Image Source](https://consequenceofsound.net/2016/01/michael-jackson-secretly-composed-music-for-sonic-the-hedgehog-video-game/) 2 – **Sonic Jackson**;- This myth evolves around the theory that Michel Jackson wrote some of the sound track to sonic 3, yes this is true, but there is a lot of dirt to sift through to get to the truth. Basically, Jackson started work on the sound track in 1993, but because the sound quality was so poor, Jackson didn't want to be credited. His lack of credit could also be linked to his child abuse allegations in 94 when the game was released. It wasn't until a reporter gained access to some of the families bank statements in 2008 that confirmed he received royalty payments for his sonic works. Came out, Atari tried to capitalize on it by making a video game. The problem was the game was created and developed in less than 2 months, a far cry from developed games today that can take upwards of 2 years. The game was horrendous to play and most of the time unplayable. This lead to bad reviews from both critics and gamers. With over 6 million ET games made and shipped out, on the basis the Film was just as popular proved to be a huge mistake. Retailers could not sell the games and ended up sending them back. With less that 250'000 sold world wide, the remaining 5.75 million copies were taken to a landfill by 6 dump trucks, dumped in the Nevada desert and covered over, hoping that we would never remember, but we did, and over 10'000 copies were found in 2010 still working. The game is now one of the most sort after games for collectors. Its a bummer about that Lara nude Cheat. My horny 15 year old self did everything I could to get her clothes off. Thanks for reading.
