Really? Well sure they do happen to happen._ The thing is whether the client thinks it's a comeback or not is irrelevant. It's always a situation of "you were the last to work on the car and now this is failing or that is failing" Okay let me start from the beginning. We did a transmission repair mid last year on this vehicle, it was an insurance claim. And well as always the assessor would take stuff off from the quoting sheet. It might sometimes be important parts, parts that work together which means the one directly impacts the other. For example on this vehicle we did a TCM (Transmission Control Module) replacement along with a brand new clutch, but the dual mass fly-wheel was rejected because the assessor felt that it was still in a good working condition. Well this vehicle came back this week where the client complained about a noise in or around the transmission, upon first inspection it was very clear that the dual mass fly-wheel has failed. So the question is. Who pays for this? The client? The insurance company? The workshop? Very tricky isn't it! Well I know for a fact we won't be the one's paying, after all we did recommend a replace! https://images.hive.blog/0x0/https://images.hive.blog/DQmfDaSmTz3y8oavngRrr5mmVhrTXheYoEU4qhGUS7pq3xh/Hive.Divider.png I've said it before and I'll say it again, it's clear that the driver of this vehicle doesn't really give any bother as to where he drives with this car, and by all rights he can probably do what he will. But the matter of the fact is if you want to break something you'll achieve just that! Now I'll be honest this car has made two comebacks in the last 8 months, but mostly for electrics and both times just happened to be bad luck, see this transmission has three speed sensors, so it came back for one speed sensor and then three weeks later it came back again because the remaining two that wasn't replaced failed as well. Can you believe that? Since we have a lot of the sensors lying around we just replaced them free of charge. After it came back for the speeds sensors it stayed away for around three months, and then one morning it re-appeared in front of the shop. Low and behold another problem. Remember when I said it's always the one who worked last on it, it's his problem! Well not this time, this time the kiddo hit valves on the motor, so there for it didn't start. Funnily enough the original problem was that the vehicle didn't start, but that was because of a faulty TCM. T This time around it was far worse, hitting valves is never a nice thing, it's a lot of costs on labour and parts! Even if it's a simple three cylinder like this! **_Sorry for the blurry photo_** As I dove deeper and deeper trying to extract the transmission I noticed that this car has seen some mileage, and not good mileage. I think the driver is a bit abusive, it's a young kid who just finished with school and well the dad pays for all the repairs on the vehicle and he just drives. I'm sure that will soon change when he starts paying his own repairs! I drive a Ford Focus, which has the same transmission a _DCT 250_ and well ironic as it may seem I also drive a little bit of dirt road with it, and at times I have to go through some deep waters. So I can definitely understand, but this kiddo really doesn't give two craps about this car, mus literally covers everything on this motor. And to top it off it's filled with empty cigarette boxes and beer bottle caps lying around in the car. I'm glad that this clutch still looks great, otherwise it would be even more costly for an already upset client. I suppose I should give this transmission a nice pressure wash ey? You know how I know that this car gets driven really hard. The colour of the transmission oil, it was very dark. It's not necessarily a problem but seeing that we filled it with fresh clean oil less than 8 months ago is quite scary. Which says to me that the vehicle indeed was driven hard. But then again we wont be a booming industry if people didn't drive their vehicles to the breaking point! Finally at the route of the problem. So this is what a dual mass fly-wheel looks like. Yeah it's not just a hunk of metal but instead it looks like it has another clutch built into it. It's very simple actually although it looks like it has some fancy stuff, when it really doesn't. It's still a fly-wheel but one that makes for a smoother pull away because it dampens the sudden power when gas is being given. Of-course that is what all those springs are for. It makes sense why the insurance company didn't want to pay for it, this one over here well it's a very expensive one! I'm not entirely sure what the price is but it's close to $800 USD give or take and I'd rather say give. And now we wait to see how things will unfold. In all honesty I am keen to see the sparks flying! _And fly they will_ _This would be the empty packet after you ate that whole pack of chips, you either want some more or you don't either way you ain't getting nothing._ _The End._ https://images.hive.blog/0x0/https://images.hive.blog/DQmfDaSmTz3y8oavngRrr5mmVhrTXheYoEU4qhGUS7pq3xh/Hive.Divider.png https://images.hive.blog/0x0/https://images.hive.blog/DQmfDaSmTz3y8oavngRrr5mmVhrTXheYoEU4qhGUS7pq3xh/Hive.Divider.png
**_To everyone who made it this far into my post Thank you for the read and the support._**

**_If you found this entertaining or educational please consider a re-blog and up-vote._**

**_Most of all please leave a input in the comments below, whether is good or bad critic I would like to know, whether its your opinion or your way of doing things in a different manner I would like._**
https://images.hive.blog/0x0/https://images.hive.blog/DQmfDaSmTz3y8oavngRrr5mmVhrTXheYoEU4qhGUS7pq3xh/Hive.Divider.png

https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmZMTckzqpfBShZSELLFNotjm43vJfjg79Ynz4ndB3i86a/PHC-Footer-05.gif https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmQYfbMsshDLVTRwEp3rCMoeUwLfcMx5rwG924fx5yYFKo/technicalside.gif ***Connecting the people of #HIVE across South Africa. #hive***
