Trump Planning Executive Actions on "Cyber Security" Tomorrow
Hi guys. I have been a pretty encouraging supporter of Trump but there are some key issues I disagree with him on, as I am more a libertarian/classical liberal than a conservative, such as immigration, but also what is more concerning for our space, "Cyber Security".

I love that he wants to deregulate businesses and remove red tape & taxes from small businesses & entrepreneurs, which helps FinTech business a lot. But, he has also said he thinks encrypted devices should be forced to provide back-door access.

Tomorrow, Trump is supposed to be signing executive orders on "Cyber Security", and what power he has on this could be more vast than people thought possible, including banning encryption outright, even if temporarily, among other things.

I would advise everyone tonight to backup all their data stored on the cloud, get a USB stick and fill it with vital software, data, torrents, books, videos, and whatever else you might need if the internet's "borders" were shut down tomorrow.

I dont write this to fear monger, and I think a lot of his policies make sense, but there are valid concerns for anyone using encryption or even accessing data-centers & internet services abroad, and as we saw with the immigration ban issue over the weekend, his National Security directives come with little to no notice, and debatable security benefits or rationale.

If his "safety" policies that are mostly authoritarian outweigh his economic libertarian policies, we will not benefit as a nation, but instead become much more vulnerable.
