With the rise of the crypto coins, the emergence of the word 'Hodl' arose. The crypto market has already provided exceptional returns. Investors who were early were literally sitting on a (small) fortune that they want to hold. But according to specialist venture capital Fred Wilson, Hodlen is not always the best solution. Hodl stands for tracking and the prices continue to rise. Especially in times of declining crypto coins, Hodl is a widely seen word on various forums. However, tracking is not always the best solution, says Fred Wilson. Wilson runs a venture capital fund that once invested very early in Twitter. The investment of $ 3.75 million grew to a capital of $ 1 billion, 8 times more than the total value of the rest of its portfolio. Although he might have been able to earn even more, he sold 30% of his shares in Twitter for $ 250 million. After the IPO of Twitter, another $ 700 million was cashed. But by cashing earlier with part of his shares, he bought some freedom for himself. He therefore recommends taking regular profits, especially if you can recoup your entire investment with the profit. With the rest you are free to follow. And when it continues to rise, you can take some more profit in between. After all, you never know what the future will bring. You can resell, lose profit. But you can also secure profitable sales. When it ends up wrong with the position, you still have a profit. When it rises further, you make more profit because you still have a free part. If it moves sideways, then you have already made a profit. "If you are sitting on 20x, 50x, 100x your money on a crypto investment, it would be a mistake to sell 10%, 20% or even 30% of your position. Selling 25% of your position on investment that is up 50x is booking a 12.5x on the entire investment, while you're 75% of it going. I know that many crypto holders think that selling is a mistake. And it might be. Or it might not be. You just do not know. "- Fred Wilson Hodl is good, but not always the best decision. Regularly taking a profit from the table ensures a win, win, win situation.
