SteemPress - Connecting Blog To Blockchain | Media DApp Review
STEEM is the first blockchain on which a blogging platform is built. It allows people to blog about their favourite niches (blockchain, relationship, tech, etc.) or about their life (how they spend the day, their work life, etc.) and as they do this, they get to mine STEEM and Steem Dollars which are the native currencies of STEEM blockchain and can be traded for other cryptocurrencies or fiat currencies directly.

In less than 3 years of its existence, Steemit has attracted millions of quality posts from over a million users worldwide that are leveraging on the power of decentralization. And when you think about it, organizations such as SteemSTEM, Utopian-io, Oracle-d, etc. have coordinated thousands high quality posts that can contend with (or even surpass) the top blogs and websites contents in highly-trafficked niches such as Science, tech, programming, blockchain, health, etc. In all, Steemit is taking over the web while rewarding its users in ways that cannot be found anywhere else.

<center><h4>Introducing SteemPress</h4></center>

Steemit.com is the first decentralized application (or platform) built on Steem blockchain. However, we have seen several other DApps being built on it over the years. These DApps give Steemit users the ability to utilise blockchain technology in doing their day-to-day activities while earning, in converse with the way things are done outside STEEM.

One of these amazing DApps is SteemPress, a WordPress plugin that bridges WordPress blogs with Steemit, thereby giving WordPress users the ability to take their blogging experience to another height in blockchain environment.

Let us face it: the first two reasons for blogging are to get exposure for your content and yourself, and to make some decent earnings while you are at it. And yes, SteemPress gives you more than just the two by connecting your WordPress blog to your Steemit blog.

<center><h4>Getting Started With SteemPress</h4></center>

Using SteemPress is as easy as using any other plugin on WordPress.

* First, you need to download this plugin. The latest version is [**2.3.1**](https://wordpress.org/plugins/steempress) and can be downloaded [here](https://wordpress.org/plugins/steempress).
* The downloaded plugin comes as a zip file. Do not unzip it. Upload it directly to your dashboard.
* Now set up your Steemit blog on the SteemPress plugin. To do this, go to Settings. You will find the textboxes in which you are to provide your Steemit username and private key. Provide the information as required, set your reward and click save. If you do not have a Steemit account yet, you need to create one first.
* Now connect your WordPress to your Steemit blog. Click on Post to write a new post. After writing the post, giving the title and choosing your preferred tags, click on Publish and some menu list will show up. At the bottom of this list, you should find "Publish on Steem", tick the box and publish your post.

You have successfully published the post on both your WordPress blog and Steemit blog. AMD your WordPress blog is now connected with your Steemit blog. How incredible!

<center><h4>Benefits of SteemPress That Make Me Like It</h4></center>

**Content exposure from blog to blockchain**

SteemPress gives you the ability to expose your content to two different huge communities: your WordPress blog community and the Steemit platform. By doing this, you are not only getting traffic from your usual WordPress visitors but also, Steemit users are getting exposed to your posts. The quality of your posts will however determine how Steemit users respond to them, but there could be any greater joy than seeing your contents get maximum exposure.

**Alternative and additional content monetization**

Most WordPress bloggers monetize their content through the use of ad placement by advertisement companies like Google Adsense, Propeller Ads, Media.net, Viglink, Chitika, etc. These big advertisement companies have certain requirements that must be met before granting ads placement on blogs and websites. Most of them have high traffic requirements that are not easy to attain especially for new blogs. As well, their CPC (Cost Per Click), MPR (Cost Per Impression), etc which determine how much you earn from your contents are literally low. Even if you are getting pretty huge traffic, your CTR (Click Trough Rate) and traffic sources have great impact on your earnings. All these make earning with these ad companies kind of hard especially for new blogs. What is more, they can decide to terminate your account at any point in time (especially when they notice a foul play, that is you trying to manipulate the system by doing self-click on ads). However, Steemit provide easier means of content monetization as users do the voting (which in turn brings your earnings based on their Steem Power).

Using SteemPress to connect your blog with Steemit brings additional earning even when you are already able to monetize your WordPress blog using advertisement companies. Think about it, earnings can never be too much for putting such efforts in making exceptional contents.

<center><h4>The Needed Improvement On SteemPress</h4></center>

Ranging from bringing additional content monetization to new wave of audience for bloggers, SteemPress has absolute awesome benefits. Yet, I still think that the SteemPress team needs to work on the content formatting options on the plugin. Sometimes, the formatting gets disorganized when WordPress connects with Steemit and maybe it is because of the difference between the HTML markdown on Steemit and WordPress formatting. A good formatting makes a content more readable. Hence, I think it is important that the team works on improving this.

<center><h4>Comparing SteemPress to other DApps and Star Rating</h4></center>

SteemPress bridges the gap between WordPress blog and blockchain technology, something that has never been done  before. The plugin has a unique function and this separates it from every other WordPress plugins. As well, its features make it unique among other DApps. With its range of benefits to both Steemit and WordPress bloggers, I give it a rating of 4.5 out of 5.
