Slap-In-The -Face Job Offers.
I had just graduated from the university and after a couple months of not getting a job related to my field, I finally decided to apply to schools for the position of a school teacher. I applied not because I was a natural when it came to impacting knowledge on kids but I just didn't like the fact that I stayed at home all day doing nothing. I didn't know about about Hive or any legitimate way of making money online at the time, so I had to settle for the traditional ways of earning.

Now, I knew teaching was literally the most underrated profession for a university graduate in my country and in most parts of the world but I was hoping I would be appreciated since I had graduated from one of the best universities in the country, had really good grades and was skilled in so many areas.

I got a bunch of Slap-In-The-Face job offers but the one I could remember vividly and had almost made me doubt my worth was the first interview I went for. I met the Head teacher and declared my CV and certificates to him as he asked me loads of questions about my life and teaching experience. I had no official teaching experience at the time but requested that I went to their classroom and be allowed to teach for about 10-15 minutes so they would decide if I was fit for the job.

I did just that and they seemed really impressed so I was asked to wait to discuss the job offer and when to resume. Well, it felt great knowing I was instantly selected for the job but it would be my first time I'll be negotiating for a salary but I didn't expect anything too high since I knew situation of the profession in my country.

Lo and behold, when I was told the salary for working an entire month as a teacher (to spend approximately 8 hours per day) with all my qualifications, certificatikns and skills, I was shocked and instantly felt humiliated. I was offered $25 in my country's currency for a teaching job and they tried to make it look like a kind offer by saying they would increase it after a month by $5-10 depending on how well I deliver.

To the best of my knowledge, this was the salary for unskilled labour in the country and was for the lowest level of unskilled labor. I was speechless and while they were still talking me through the terms and conditions, I had made up my mind about not taking the job. I felt so humiliated that I couldn't tell my friends at home how much I was offered to teach for an entire month.

I told them politely that I couldn't take the offer because it was just too small. They tried to persuade me saying it was was good offer for a non-experienced teacher and I told them again that it was too small. I stood up and told them I'll get back to them because I just didn't see myself working with them at all.

Till I got back home, I kept thinking about how anyone would in their right mind offer me $25 as a month salary with all the qualifications and skills I had. I instantly made up my mind to switch to a more lucrative field and to keep searching for ways to earn online. It took a while, but Hive saved me from much more humiliation and I'm so thankful for that.
