When it comes to light trail photography, highways and overpasses are a very common location for them to be done. In fact if you are a beginner at them or just want to try it out, that would be my recommended place to try it. The traffic volume makes it ideal and pretty easy. I usually don't like easy and would rather challenge myself. But it is nice to try and get a different take on the simple things. So I went out to a bridge over this highway and did some shots which were pretty typical. Then to add some challenge to it, I climbed underneath the overpass (I do not recommend this to anyone, it is dangerous). Underneath was very frustrating! I found the spot and shot that I wanted and began shooting, but no matter what settings I used on the camera. The trails were not showing up. I tried it with the shutter set at 10 seconds, 15 seconds, 30 seconds and even 1 min 30 seconds. Not a single one turned out. The best shot that I got was with a 30 second shutter speed and I am still not fully happy with it. I looked for a challenge and found it! And will be returning to master the shot, no matter how many times it takes. This is part of what makes me so addicted to light trails, the ability to take something fairly simple and get creative with it. To challenge yourself and have fun!
