Facebook, When a Train Crash is No Accident - Part 3

Why would a social media site that connects you with your grandma feel the need to track all your activity even when you are not on their website?

That's the 190 Billion Dollars question.

Edward Snowden seems to calls it a surveillance company re-branded as a “social media” company.

At first it sounds funny, but then you start to scratch your head as you realize that if that guy knows about anything, that’s surveillance.

Granted, you would think that Snowden would be exaggerating, but then you realize that the recent scandals caused Facebook to halt their newest surveillance operation where they [want to listen to you in the privacy of your home.](http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-5553171/Facebook-decides-not-unveil-smart-speakers-amid-data-privacy-scandals.html)

Again, why would a social media site need records of every word you say, and every word your girlfriend tells you while you’re having sex?

*Think about that the next time you lay your phone on the nightstand before you start making love.*

If history has shown us anything is that these levels of intrusive spying are very dangerous at the hand of a surveillance agency. But at the hands of a social media website, it gets a hell lot scarier.

> *“Same way, as in the small town of Hue, in South Vietnam, several thousands of Vietnamese were executed in one night when city was captured by Viet Cong for only two days.*
>
> *And American CIA could never figure out, how could possibly Communists know each individual, where he lives, where, where to get him and would be arrested in one night, basically, arrested four hours before dawn, put on a van, taken out of the city limits and shot?*
>
> *The answer is very simple. Long before Communists occupied thecity there was extensive network of informers, local Vietnamese citizens who knew absolutely everything about people who are instrumental in public opinion, including barbers and taxi drivers.”* **― Yuri Bezmenov, ex KGB.**

Nowadays the governments of the world don’t need barbers and taxi drivers, they have Facebook.

So how much are you willing to be that Facebook will be protecting your data?

## The most important question becomes: What if all this private information falls in the wrong hands?

![Alt Text](https://techblogup.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/tNFF7.jpg)

Here’s the thing, this has already happened and will probably will happen again, though we don’t know that for sure.

What we know for sure, on the other hand is how Facebook reacted.

They failed to notify the 50 million people that their private data was stolen without their consent.

They also failed to warn them that they about to how they were subjects to all sorts news feed manipulation using tailored "news” that are fabricated to manipulate their emotions and exploit their mental vulnerabilities.

The question remains, why didn’t Facebook come forward to protect their users?

Is it for fear of public outrage? Were they also caught and blackmailed by one of those Ukranian prostitutes previously mentioned?

Or maybe Facebook is also interested in running their very own newsfeed operation, which may be a little closer to the truth.
