It might be the red wine, it may be the new sound system, but UB40 is blasting through my house tonight. Your parents influence your music taste, mostly a fortunate experience for me. UB40 has always been in my playlists. Always uplifting, great seat dancing beat and goes so well with a glass of vino. My mother told me that her favourite live show was UB40. She couldn’t afford tickets, but thankfully her friend lived right next to the stadium. They sat on her apartment roof, with green garden chairs and cheap box wine (because classy), with the best view of the inflatable rat and a glance of the stage which most ticket holders didn’t have. After a day which gave unexpected clarity, a roller-coaster of WTF, and a bottle of the good stuff, nothing makes more sense than a bit of UB40. “You’ve got a smile so bright, you could’ve been a candle…” Music, it saves the worst of days, enhances the best of days.
