Cats come in many shapes and sizes but some of the most defining characteristics will come from the type of fur a cat maintains. Semi-Long haired cats are longer than the shorthair but considerably shorter than the longhair breeds. They will shed considerably less hair in comparison to the longhaired relatives and the hair left around the house will be manageable if a regular grooming regime is put into place. If a grooming regime is ignored, build up of fur can occur and can quickly spiral out of control if left unattended. Helping with grooming will help with both hygiene and aesthetic improvement and is a much needed essential for all cats, regardless of fur type. Many semi-long hair cats are a result of crossbreeding various breeds. Often the addition of a longhair cats genes to a shorthair pool will result in a completely new type of cat. This has occurred multiple times in the cat world, the Cymric is another example of this type of event. The Cymric (Welsh name) is commonly referred to as a longhair version of the shorthair cat, the Manx.

The Cymric cat is a most peculiar cat that has gained recognition and a following over the years. One of the obvious differentiations from the conventional cat is how short its tail appears. Rather than the plume like tails of the semi-long hair cats we have explored previously, the Cymric exhibits a stump like tail that stops much shorter than other cats. There may be a varying degree in how much tail this type of cats will have as it grows, this can range from having no tail at all to having a partially incomplete one.

The coat of this cat is regarded as attaining a silky texture and strays from the conventional fluffy feel that some cats have. Their eyes are wide and rounded. Interestingly, the eye colour of this type of cat is often consistent with its coat and will complement it in subtle fashion. Perhaps one of the most attractive features of the Cymric is its attitude and grooming requirements. This cat is known to be very affectionate to its carers and will interact with people in the most intelligent ways. Contrary to what some may believe about the cats, the temperament of the Cymric is known to be very loyal to its keepers and will enjoy being round those it has developed bonds with.
