# I Found LTC I Forgot About! What's Hiding on YOUR Old Harddrives?
Remember that little chunk of coins you couldn't spend? You'd better check prices again,  since almost every coin has enjoyed a nice price hike over the last few years. **BitCoin is currently over $6,000USD**. Seriously. Do you remember mining/buying any coins? What about coins you quit using, because you didn't have enough to trade for a decent gift card or something? (Yes, I'm deliberately posting this in categories you'd be watching if you'd forgotten about crypto.) :)

## Find Them First!
Search your hadrdrives for folders named after coins. Look for wallet.dat, blk00001.dat and other files associated with coins. Log on to all of the web sites where you could have been holding a balance. A lot may be gone, some may still have a bit of coins here and there, think hard and search well. ;)

## BACK THEM UP!
Please make copies of any files BEFORE you download the latest wallet and try to open them. I may have lost 2 or 3 DASH coins. :( I saw them in the old wallet, which would not sync (of course), and the installation of the new wallet munged something in the directory and I have zero coins showing now. :(

## Download the Latest Wallet Software
so you can access the current network properly. Look for blockchain files you can download, to speed up the block index updates. Some software has changed in a major way, be sure to read up on them.

## Count Them Up!
What did you find? How many? Did you mine them? Buy them? Recieve them as a gift? Tell us the story, especially if it's a juicy one. lol

## What Are They Worth?
There are a few sites with easy to use conversion tools. [WorldCoinDex](http://www.worldcoinindex.com/), [CoinMarketCap.com](http://coinmarketcap.com) and [CoinGecko.com](http://www.coingecko.com/) are a few well written ones. Easy comparison between coins and world currencies is becoming a standard. If you haven't been to a coin information site, you may be a bit overwhelemed at first. ;) Things have become quite sophisticated in the crypto realm. :D

# At These Prices
Only finding a few coins is still worth looking for them. Depending on what you find, you may be looking at a $10 Burger King Gift Card, to upwards of a house or more. I'm currently in a situation where nearly zero cash is coming in. The work I'm doing is being exchanged for rent/utilities. Finding the coins I've found so far, has provided us with some very needed staples. We're in a bit of a pinch and what little we found has helped a lot.
