#
*The Hive* Learning on Steemit.

Howdy folks'.
Oh Boy! Where to start on a post like this, there is so much to take in when you first arrive. From the safety of land you are jumping into a new sea of Steemit. Be cool, this sea wont drown you with anything more than words. Not every way of doing things suits everyone. There are key points, which can apply to everyone though. With a small piece of luck you will take away a positive possibility from this post. *Side note:* With the exception of abuse of others, plagiarism, theft or any other form we commonly agree is unfair or not right. What you post has as much value as any other. In this post I would like to cover expectations, the reality, learning and a conclusion

**Expectations** I would say Just jump in the deep end and start flapping your arms and kicking your legs. Not everyone who goes to the sea, goes to swim. By far the chances of a newbie seeing this post is very small. You will see this post, maybe sharing this link will keep one more newbie on the platform. So what you do here on Steemit is totally determined by you and your interests. I do not judge your content its value or if it should be there or not. I will leave that for you to decide and my choices lie in if I vote there or not. Earning a weekly wage, is not something you should expect to happen straight away. This happens only to an exceptional few and often does not carry forward for infinity. even the greats have ups and downs. Earning an income is possible and you can create a reliable supplement to a wage over time. The biggest expectations you should have is, this will take time and some effort.

**Reality of Steemit** There are regular posts wrote about how to format your posts using markdown by various users. A simple internet search of Steemit tutorial will bring many links to read. Many may not be on the topic you want to read, such is life. It sounds great, write an opinion get paid for it. There is a bit more detail involved than just posting and getting paid. To get paid you need someone to read your post and vote on it. Not only do they have to vote on your posting, the vote value to the post has to reach a certain level. This threshold level for a payout is 2c (note: a display on your post of 0.02 can represent a vote as low as 0.016) The reality is, it will take much of your time over a long period of time to build up a consistent readership that will read your articles all the time.

**Learning** This is my own personal experience of learning. I learnt from others. Not everything I learnt was something to make my experience better. Some of the things I learnt were things not to do, or if doing so how to do correctly. This would be something like sourcing images used in posts. For writing and grammar I have a way to go to perfect. I am not writing novels, so I give myself a break on that. I still try to write clearly though so my post can be understood. First contact, must come from you. No one will know you are here on the platform with us, if you do not converse with anyone. Writing your article and posting it, is only the beginning and well done if you have already posted. Getting views to the post and just as important to your pocket, people to vote on it is a bit trickier a task. This is were your work begins, meeting new people and interacting with these people. This can be accomplished through making comments on the posts of others. The comments you leave, make a difference. A short comment like, " Hi, I read your post great article." will get a reply back "Thank you" at best. This type of comment is similar to spam in the comments. and perceived as chasing votes. A comment like, "HI, I particularly liked the part where you said,,, Do you think that if so so. would it be this or that" This type of comment shows you have actually read the post. It invites the original writer to engage with you more. I hope you can see the difference in those two comments. How we talk with others will determine the actions of the responder. The positive side of this, comes from these people you engage with, will also offer you advice. Taking the advice or not is a choice you will make at that time. Steemit works of votes. Those who are going to look at your post will be those you interact with. Learning on Steemit comes down to who you interact with and the knowledge you can gain from them. A simple thing like the Discord Servers, offer great potential for expanding those who get to see your name and posts. Engagement is going to be the biggest experience giver here on Steemit. There is a short list of Discord servers I recommend listed at the end of this post. These Servers all have community at the heart of them. Each in their way help and assist in the growth of members and the Steemit platform. The things we remember most are the things we do. Not every time we try something does it work out right. We may have to go back and correct something we had done previous, or not make that same judgement again in a future time. Telling you to go here do this or that and your account will grow, holds nothing more than short term gains for you and a waste of your time if that is all you do. Learning is a personal experience to us all even if we learn along side others. The more posts you make the ore you will learn about markdown you use to format your post. You will learn about other people who have similar interests or gain new interests to yourself. If you have a question ask it. If someone else asks a question and you feel you know the answer share it. Sharing answers offers as much as asking questions.

**Conclusion** To learn on Steemit or anywhere about anything. You need to put part of you into the learning. Learn by doing, taking the criticism and improving on what you have done before. expand your horizons by expanding the range of people you talk and interact with. Each time you do something, you create a memory. The more you repeat this action, the easier it becomes. They call it muscle memory and your brain is a muscle. "Train your Brain" (oh maybe that is a phrase the Steem Engine might use.) Learning is not about what someone will tell you. Learning on Steemit is about what you will try. If it does not work well ask yourself the questions why or ask others for opinion. The best place I found to ask questions is in the Discord Servers. You can going to have more fails than success in most endeavours in Steemit or outside. The Bottom line is, if you want to learn, begin by doing something. Enforce what you do by engaging with other members of Steemit and Discord, combine this with time and you have a recipe for some success. Learning is about you, your experiences and how you move forward with each experience.

You are welcome to join our Discord Server at https://discord.gg/SQ3zSsp Some other groups I invite you to take a look at are: The @IFC Discord group: https://discord.gg/uSGDtKR The @cryptoempire Discord Server: https://discord.gg/9JhyHXg The @asapers Discord Server: https://discord.gg/2gJD7PW The @buddyup Discord Server: https://discord.gg/3d5H3K8 The @steemitramble Discord Server: https://discord.gg/QJzP2zm

https://ipfs.busy.org/ipfs/QmZTiGq4kLrtjNtu3W13XmDqkrYX5px9gLFprpHW6EKwFe

The Hive witness vote has been given to @danielsaori @yehey @pharesim @yabapmatt @steemcommunity @enginewitty @jackmiller All these witness have come at the recommendation of Jan23com to the The Hive.
