We have a pretty fantastic Humane Society here in Edmonton. The building is large and quite aesthetically pleasing. It's kept very clean and the animals are well taken care of.

We enjoy a trip here from time to time to pet the animals and give them some love.

Since we get temperatures so cold here, it's quite common for cats to have missing ears due to frostbite. This little sweetie had just gotten neutered, it didn't dampen his affection for humans though that's for sure!

Recently there was a pet store in the West Edmonton Mall that went out of business, and they had left all their small animals in the store and locked up the doors! Over 500 small pets!

Someone finally noticed after a day or two and the Edmonton Humane Society was called in to rescue the animals. Once all of the creatures were checked out and given a clean bill of health they were put up for adoption.

With so many animals, EHS decided to have a big adoption event over the course of a weekend, trying to find homes for all these small animals. We visited the week after the event, expecting to see quite a few of these little critters still there, but almost everything was already adopted! I couldn't believe they did so well! So happy they all found homes!

There were a couple dogs, and a decent amount of cats still there, so at least we did have some animals to pet!

All that was left of the small animals was one cockatiel, a couple little white mice, and one guinea pig, that was it! ๐Ÿ˜

We love visiting this place and I am so glad to have a humane society that is dedicated to coming as close to no-kill as they can!
