God honors your request
Nicodemus' story continues. He's still having a hard time understanding this ''born again"business, so Jesus tries another approach. Since Nicodemus' is a Pharisee and knows the Old Testament backward and forward, Jesus uses an example from it to try to help Nicodemus ' understand what He is talking about. Back in Old Testament times, when the people rebelled against God, the Lord sent a plague of poisonous snakes as punishment. The only way they could be saved from this punishment was by looking at a bronze snake Moses had made and put high on a pole for everyone to see. It was a simple request. All they had to do to be saved was to look at the bronze snake. Once they did, they were healed. What could be easier . To be saved, all people have to do is look at Jesus. That was the whole reason He came-- to save us--so of course, He would make it as simple as possible. And yet people still refuse. Why? Especially when there's a clear cut way of getting right with God and becoming His friend? Why would ![my-honor-part-1-3-728.jpg](https://steemitimages.com/DQmTkVrkzDoVF84yXdX4pXzAWu4bdTcDv83Ww2NrU39JDMm/my-honor-part-1-3-728.jpg)we want to ignore Him? It could be a matter of ignorance, but that excuse can't last for ever, God makes it crystal clear to most people who hear the gospel that they need to receive Jesus as their Savior .But, according to Christ , if they continue to refuse His offer, it's really because they just don't want that friendship with God. But they like sin too much. In fact , some people actually prefer living in darkness of sin to living in the light of God. And, being the gracious God He is, once people have made their final decision, He will honor it forever.
