There is one of two things that are **100% guaranteed** when you head down to the Antarctic Peninsula for a summer adventure.  One is penguins - that is going to be a definite sight to see and animals to photograph.  The other is **ICE.** There is quite a bit of it still in Antarctica.  It is estimated that roughly 68% of all the world’s freshwater is frozen on top of the continent of Antarctica. 

If all of that water melted into the ocean, heaven forbid, it would cause the sea level to rise roughly 70m|210ft! You might read other scientific estimates that slightly offer different amounts it may rise - however, that is the current general understanding within the scientific community.  Either way… not good. 

However, when taking photos and looking at all this ice you will always see a better angle and lighting and no two icebergs are ever the same, which is exciting and awesome.  The one down side is that you will have one 32gig card full of pictures of one iceberg...

**The further south you head the more ice begins to appear ~ this huge iceberg, which was roughly 100m|300ft in height we came across when we crossed the Antarctic Circle.**
