Every year, as soon as we harvest the onions, we plant turnips in that area. Because the soil is rich in minerals, the crops are productive.

We typically plant turnips in early August. However, due to high temperatures, we postponed this process for about a week. Turnips don't like hot weather, and the germination period for the seeds can be extended, or some of the seeds may not germinate at all. So, we waited for the weather to cool down a bit. In fact, the temperature hasn't dropped. Watering a few times a day can help alleviate this problem, at least to some extent.

We sourced turnip seeds from the market this way. We could grow them ourselves, but the seeds sold at the market are better. Perhaps because we didn't think it was worth the effort. Actually, it's better to grow our own seeds. This way, we know what kind of variety we're planting. When we buy seeds from the market, we completely trust the grower.

There are a lot of stray cats where I live. Whenever they come across freshly plowed, soft soil, they immediately start digging. They defecate where they've scratched. This damages the seed we've planted, leaving it above the soil. This makes it harder for the seed to germinate. As a precaution, we've placed tree branches in this area. It seems to be working so far. This is one of the ways we protect ourselves from both cats and birds. Once the seed sprouts and the soil hardens a bit, we'll remove the tree branches. Otherwise, the turnips won't mature or grow properly. I'll update the situation once the turnips have grown a bit.
