Its a whole new year and the day is almost over in Ghana. We have 365 days in a year which is quite a number but every year moves as quickly as one can snap his figure. Many of us got surprised as to how the year ended so quickly without reaching our targets or our goals. Many of us might have asked where did the time go as we dont really know what we did the previous days which sum up to the 365 days. Its a general question asked by most adults as they realise the years getting shorter with each increase in age. [Source](https://pixabay.com/en/hourglass-time-hours-clock-620397/) Today i am going to delve deeper into this phenomenon and make my audience aware as to what might be true or not about their time not being adequate for them.
**WHY DID LAST YEAR ENDED SO QUICKLY?**
Yes you heard me right. Why did last year ended so quickly? i have asked my self the same question and it seem this problem is regenerative from year to year. Every year seems a lot short than the previous and it feels like I'm doing very little within each ear. The adage; "time travels when one is having fun" seems true for a certain setting and is invalid for grown ups as time still speeds irrespective of us having fun or not. ***So what's going on?*** To understand this phenomenon, i googled to find what could be the cause and most results i found had to do with either perception or a scientific theory. The two school of thoughts seems to explain the phenomenon well with facts which are seemingly true and accurate.
***Time Speeding Due to Scientifically Proven Theory***
Its funny how science always tries to find answer to the very little question we ask.
https://img.whaleshares.io/wls-img/tj4real/8b1b0bf46d106d1fa17bb5111439b7c96f929d0c.png

Einstein, one of the greatest minds ever lived on earth calculated that the faster we move, the slower time becomes and conversely, the slower we go, the faster times moves. Actually it sounds gibberish to me if you care to ask. But i believe its true since Einstein postulated it.
This scientific theory though confused me more and i wouldn't like to do same to my audience so I will bail out and explain the Psychological theory associated to time passage.

***Time Speeding Due to Psychological Theory***
This theory is based on how we perceive time and activities. As we grow up, we experience new things which form a major part of our memory. We associate time with new experiences we have. As we continue to grow, there are lesser newer experiences and as such our brain fails to attach exact specific timelines to experiences as they are mostly repetitive. This in turn affects how we perceive time passage. So theoretically, an older person can feel a longer year passage if he or she tends to learn new experiences in a year and the converse is true for a shorter year. Christmases as a child seemed like they took forever to arrive, whereas now, they feel as if they arrive the day after . The two school of thoughts seems quite valid but the most important thing is whether the passage of time affects you positively or negatively. If you feel you are not getting the most out of your years, then you probably arent doing much and your brain is trying to tell you to go out there and explore new things. Have new experiences and enjoy life to the fullest. Do not let the new year whirl away as the previous one did. You can learn a new language, new skill and trust me, you will enjoy it.
HAPPY NEW YEAR FROM @TJREAL
