## Yesterday the first Leo Power Up Day of 2023 took place, and it was also the most important #lpud we have had so far.

This edition of the Leo Power Up Day,  didn't have special tasks or rewards apart from the normal monthly prizes, but still, it was a very significant event.

### LPUD and my 2023 goals

 For many Lions who, such as myself, are taking part in the [My LEO Goals for 2023 initiative](https://leofinance.io/@leogrowth/my-leo-goals-for-2023-or-join-in), this **LPUD** was an important step towards our greater goal of 2023 and, because of that, every **LPUD** from now on will be the most important of the year.

I apologize for the slight clickbait on my title, but that just shows how committed I am to my goal and how I'm going to leverage **LPUD** to help me get there.

My next intermediate goal is to end February with around 8k LEO Power, which is more or less 2k more than what I started January with. I powered up roughly 200 LEO on this **LPUD**, which is almost 10% of my February goal. There is still a long way to go, but it's definitely a good step toward it.

Another thing that drew my attention is that I saw many people saying that this was their first **LPUD**. That is great to see because it means more people are learning about this initiative and getting involved, which, ultimately, is very good for LeoFinance and all of its community members. I don't know if it's easy to measure the number of new Lions who joined LPUD for the first time, but that would perhaps be an interesting and insightful indicator.

Another interesting thing is that a handful of people also approached me to ask what is LPUD. It shows that even if the initiative is growing there are still people out there who are not familiar with it. People close to us, Lions, that we could and should try to onboard and the second half of this article is directed to them.

### What is LEO Power Up Day

If you have been around Hive for some time, you might be familiar with Hive Power Up Day (aka **HPUD**), where all hivers are invited to power up at least 10 Hive on the first day of each month for a chance of winning some of the prizes and ultimately help the sustainability of the ecosystem. LEO Poer Up day, not coincidentally, is a lot similar.

The main difference between the two is that while **HPUD** happens on the 1st of every month, **LPUD** takes place on the 15th, and the minimum LEO you need to power up in order to officially participate is 150 (although this number has changed before so it's always a good idea to stay tune to the official announcement made by @leogrowth to be sure).

Yes, that means you are unfortunately too late to join this month's **LPUD** but the bright side is that you have enough time to make sure you are ready for the next one!

Participating on **LPUD** means you are helping **LeoFinance** to grow, but you probably noticed that I mentioned prizes, so you must be thinking, "hey, what are these prizes and how can I get them?"

Don't worry because I got your back! Before talking about the prizes, though, let's do a quick recap of the eligibility rules:

Your total Leo Power (on the 15th) must be less than 25k.
You must power up at least 150 Leo on the 15th.
You must not have powered down Leo since October 15.
Make a post or a #thread on Leo Finance about LPUD, perhaps you'll get a visit from @leo.voter!

If you check all the boxes, you can be one of 3 lucky Lions who will win a **20k LEO Power Delegation** for 1 month!

As someone who has won that once, I can say it is a nice boost! At the time, it represented roughly 4 times my whole LEO stake, so I was able to increase my curation rewards by a lot and help with the distribution of LEO among our loyal community.

But wait! That's not all!

The 20k delegation is the official prize; however, some members of the **LeoFinance** community kindly contribute to the prize pool every month, so there are many other chances to win!

### Final thoughts

This Leo Power Up day was an important milestone as it was the first event of the year and also one important step towards my 2023 goals.

I was happy to see so many new Lions participating for the first time and also surprised to see a lot of people who are somewhat familiar with **LeoFinance** bit didn't know about **LPUD**.

I hope this article helps bring more people to this great initiative and I hope to see even more Lions coming together next month!
