Management of a business is very vital for the growth and sustainability of the business. If a business is being managed wrongly, there is a certainty that it will crash soon. Management of a business cuts across every part of the business including staffing, finances, recording etc. In Nigeria, poor management has led to the downfall of many businesses.

The zeal and resources of the entrepreneur will come to naught if he is lacking in the capacity to coordinate and channel the available resources to the attainment of an enterprise or company's purpose. That capacity entails a complex and delicate blend of human and material resources, strategy, work, organizational design amongst other factors. 

More so, it incorporates the ability to decode and utilize the turbulence in his environment that makes room for new thinking, new ways of doing things, fresh opportunities and unfettered possibilities. The totality of that process is called management and the person in charge of it is known as the manger. 

It is worthy of note that the manager is the coordinator of every goal-directed effort in a formal organization and the span of his power and authority is vast. It is he who determines what shall be produced, how it will be produced, when it shall be produced and for whom. He is also the person who creates jobs, assigns tasks, remunerates ad fosters consumption, savings and investment. Also, the makeup of a manager’s job is not a subject of serious contention though the priority accorded each aspect of the job could vary from one manager or management situation to another

Furthermore, the ubiquitous role of management and the manager in society has fascinated many observers and analysts. In modern society, the centrality and importance of management can hardly be better expressed. The relevance of management to everyday living thus explains, perhaps, why generations of management thinkers have spread no effort in trying to unravel the dynamics of management, explore consistencies in management practice and attempt to extrapolate and make generalizations about relations with a view to formulating a theory of general application. 

But rather than produce a unified theory of management, the effort has instead succeeded in generating a plethora of empirical and theoretical findings, some of which contrast one another. However, there is a general agreement that management must work with and through people to achieve desired results and outcomes. How best to work with people and get the intended result is another matter that should be considered by the manager.     

Sunnarily, in order to have a sustainable and profitable business, proper management measures should be put in motion else the business will certainly fail in a short while. This has been a case of many.
