**Una introducción necesaria**

<div class="text-justify"> Ayer se inauguraron los XXIV Juegos Deportivos Centroamericanos, en San Salvador, capital del Salvador, estado más pequeño de Centroamérica. En una bonita y colorida inauguración desfilaron todos, los equipos, como es la tradición, por orden alfabético y con el país anfitrión al final de todas las delegaciones. En esta actividad estuvo la tradición y la modernidad del país sede que tuvo en el concierto de Marshmello, su colofón de música y alegría.

Y allí, entre los países que desfilaron estuvo la delegación cubana que con su acostumbrados colores blanco, rojo y azul y su habitual carisma contagiaron la ceremonia inaugural.

Antes que esto ocurriera ya la delegación era protagonista de hechos deportivos importantes y otros no tanto. De eso va esta publicación que al igual que otras que el autor hará mientras dure este evento estarán dirigidas a divulgar la actuación de los deportistas de la mayor de las Antillas y a valorar los elementos positivos y negativos de las actuaciones.

**La primera medalla de oro de la delegación cubana**

Es normal que en las justas multideportivas las competiciones comiencen sin que se hayan inaugurado los juegos. Esta no fue la excepción, pero lo que sí es inusual que los primeros campeones se coronen antes de la fecha inicial oficial. Y esto fue lo que ocurrió. Pero, vayamos a los hechos.

De los deportes que iniciaron antes de la ceremonia inaugural estuvieron el Tenis de Mesa y el Boxeo, dos deportes en los que Cuba cifró esperanzas positivas antes del inicio de los juegos. En el Boxeo el pronóstico es de tres medallas de oro y todas en el Boxeo masculino, dada la nula experiencia que tienen nuestras boxeadoras y ser esta su primera competición internacional de manera oficial. 
En el Tenis de Mesa los pronósticos eran de medallas de bronce en el femenino y plata en el masculino.

En el masculino el pronóstico se cumplió cuando el equipo masculino salió por la puerta estrecha frente al favorito Puerto Rico. Las principales raquetas de nuestro país no pudieron con los boricuas y cayeron por 3 juegos a 1. En favor del equipo masculino hay que decir que tuvieron un gran torneo, a pesar de la derrota, pues hasta este momento, solo habían perdido un juego en Cuartos de Final, pero a los demás equipos los habían derrotados por 3 a 0, incluyendo a los tenistas venezolanos, a quienes derrotaron en las semifinales. 

Ya en la final se impuso la calidad y mayor experiencia de los boricuas quienes lograron cumplir con el pronóstico precompetencia y le dieron a la Isla del Encanto su primera medalla dorada.
La primera medalla de oro de los Juegos Deportivos Centroamericanos
Antes que esto los varones de puerto rico se coronaran se produciría un hecho relevante cuando se disputó la primera medalla de oro de los juegos que tuvo como protagonistas a las tenistas femeninas de dos islas del Caribe: Cuba y Puerto Rico.

Ambos equipos llegaron de manera diferente a la discusión del título, pues, mientras las de la tierra puertorriqueña llegaban aquí sin ningún sobresalto las cubanas tuvieron que venir de abajo en varios compromisos, para imponerse y seguir avanzando. Justo es mencionar que las cubanas estuvieron debajo contra México, el equipo de Centro Caribe Sports y Venezuela y lograron imponerse para llegar a la final contra las favoritas boricuas.

**Rompiendo pronósticos**

Cuando las cubanas vencieron en semifinales habían sobrecumplido el pronóstico con el que viajaron a los juegos y de paso, mejoraron la actuación de los juegos de Veracruz México y Barranquilla Colombia, en los que habían alcanzado las medallas de bronce, la misma meta que tenían como objetivo.

Pero, los pronósticos están para romperse y en el deporte no hay enemigos pequeños y siempre se debe esperar al final de una competición, para ver quién lo hizo mejor y se llevó la victoria. Y esto fue lo que sucedió y Cuba volvió a venir de abajo, para ganar la medalla de oro. Una medalla de oro que, además, de ser la primera de la delegación cubana quedará como uno de los hechos relevantes de los juegos, pues fue la primera de toda la competición.

**Historia en el Boxeo para damas**

Aquí, también se produjo un acontecimiento significativo para nuestra delegación cuando Legnis Cala alcanzó una victoria que la colocó en medalla de bronce y, aunque puede mejorar el color de la medalla, lo cierto es que su nombre está inscripto en la historia del Movimiento Deportivo Cubano, al convertirse en la primera medallista cubana en una competición multideportiva.
 
Es cierto que en la pelea la cubana se vio con problemas físicos en la parte final de la pelea, pero había acumulado los puntos suficientes para ganar. En el próximo combate tendrá como rival a una atleta de México que se vio mejor físicamente en su combate anterior y tiene más experiencia que la cubana, pero debemos esperar a la pelea de ambas por el pase a la final.

**No todo es color de rosa**

Lo anterior no puede hacernos pensar que todo ha sido de maravillas para la delegación cubana que no puede darse el lujo de que sus favoritos pierdan porque son posibilidades que le restan a nuestro país en la lucha que sostendrá con Colombia por el segundo lugar. El autor hace este comentario por la inesperada derrota sufrida por el subcampeón mundial de boxeo Saidel Orta, ante un boxeador de Colombia. 

Esta derrota inesperada, al menos para quien escribe se une a una victoria no convincente del doble campeón olímpico Arlen López, a quien vimos lento, falto de combinaciones y con bajo fondo físico, ante un boxeador de escasa experiencia en los cuadriláteros internacionales.

De los otros deportes que están viendo acción marchan con buen pie el voleibol de playa en ambos sexos. En el caso del masculino es favorito a ganar la medalla de oro y el femenino trae como objetivo ganar medalla de bronce.

**Un comentario final**

Hasta el momento estamos disfrutando de estos juegos y en el caso de nuestro país la cobertura que se le da es total. Esto nos ha permitido ver en tiempo real lo que ha estado sucediendo y poder analizar cada una de las actuaciones de nuestros deportistas.

Hasta este minuto la actuación general viene siendo positiva, pero se deben ajustar tácticas en algunos deportes, como el Boxeo que es una de las máximas esperanzas cubanas, para alcanzar el segundo lugar propuesto.

**A necessary introduction**

Yesterday the XXIV Central American Games were inaugurated in San Salvador, capital of El Salvador, the smallest state in Central America. In a beautiful and colorful inauguration, all the teams paraded, as is the tradition, in alphabetical order and with the host country at the end of all the delegations. And there, among the countries that paraded was the Cuban delegation that with its usual white, red and blue colors and its usual charisma spread the inaugural ceremony.

Before this happened, the delegation was already the protagonist of important and not so important sporting events. That is what this publication is about, which, like others that the author will publish during this event, will be aimed at disseminating the performance of the athletes of the largest of the Antilles and to assess the positive and negative elements of their performances.

It is normal for competitions in multisport events to start before the opening of the Games. This was no exception, but what is unusual is that the first champions are crowned before the official opening date. And this is what happened. But, let's get to the facts.

Among the sports that started before the opening ceremony were Table Tennis and Boxing, two sports in which Cuba had positive hopes before the start of the games. In Boxing, the forecast is for three gold medals and all of them in men's boxing, given the lack of experience of our female boxers and the fact that this is their first official international competition. 
In Table Tennis the predictions were for bronze medals in the women's and silver in the men's category.

In the men's category, the prediction was fulfilled when the men's team came out on top against the favorite Puerto Rico. The main racquets of our country could not defeat the Puerto Ricans and fell by 3 games to 1. In favor of the men's team, it must be said that they had a great tournament, despite the defeat, because up to this moment, they had only lost one game in the Quarterfinals, but they had defeated the other teams by 3 to 0, including the Venezuelan tennis players, whom they defeated in the semifinals. 

In the final, the quality and greater experience of the Puerto Ricans prevailed and they were able to fulfill the pre-competition forecast and gave the Island of Enchantment its first gold medal.
The first gold medal of the Central American Games
Before the Puerto Rican men were crowned, a relevant event took place when the first gold medal of the Games was disputed between the female tennis players of two Caribbean islands: Cuba and Puerto Rico.

Both teams arrived at the title discussion in different ways, because, while the Puerto Rican team arrived here without any surprises, the Cuban team had to come from behind in several matches in order to prevail and continue advancing. It is fair to mention that the Cubans were down against Mexico, the Central Caribbean Sports team and Venezuela and managed to prevail to reach the final against the Puerto Rican favorites.

When the Cubans won in the semifinals, they had surpassed the prediction with which they traveled to the games and in passing, they improved the performance of the games of Veracruz Mexico and Barranquilla Colombia, where they had reached the bronze medals, the same goal they had as their objective.

But, predictions are made to be broken and in sport there are no small enemies and one must always wait until the end of a competition to see who did better and took the victory. And this is what happened and Cuba came from behind to win the gold medal. A gold medal that, besides being the first of the Cuban delegation, will remain as one of the relevant facts of the games, since it was the first of the whole competition.

**History in women's boxing**

Here, there was also a significant event for our delegation when Legnis Cala achieved a victory that placed her in bronze medal and, although she can improve the color of the medal, what is certain is that her name is inscribed in the history of the Cuban Sports Movement, by becoming the first Cuban medalist in a multisport competition.
 
It is true that in the fight the Cuban had physical problems in the final part of the fight, but she had accumulated enough points to win. In the next fight she will have as her opponent an athlete from Mexico who looked better physically in her previous fight and has more experience than the Cuban, but we must wait for the fight of both for the pass to the final.

**Not everything is rosy**

The foregoing cannot make us think that everything has been wonderful for the Cuban delegation that cannot afford the luxury of their favorites losing because they are possibilities that remain to our country in the fight that they will have with Colombia for the second place. The author makes this comment due to the unexpected defeat suffered by the world boxing runner-up Saidel Orta, against a boxer from Colombia. 

This unexpected defeat, at least for this writer, joins an unconvincing victory of the double Olympic champion Arlen Lopez, who we saw slow, lacking in combinations and with low physical background, against a boxer with little experience in international rings.

Of the other sports that are seeing action, beach volleyball is doing well in both sexes. The men's team is the favorite to win the gold medal and the women's team is aiming to win the bronze medal.

**A final comment**

So far we are enjoying these games and in the case of our country the coverage given is total. This has allowed us to see in real time what has been happening and to be able to analyze each of the performances of our athletes.

Up to this minute the general performance has been positive, but tactics must be adjusted in some sports, such as boxing, which is one of Cuba's greatest hopes, in order to reach the second place proposed.</div>
