I was listening to some content this weekend that had me in thought; about how 'social media' impacts people's emotions .... I guess this never hit 'me' because I've been on the internet forever ...... So, the amount of 'likes, comments, shares,' etc... on my page ... does not make me 'feel' any kind of way. I have a deeper understanding of why people press those buttons, and even why they don't. It often has 'less' to do with ME and more to do with how THEY feel others will judge THEM ..... I also don't place value on a person 'because' they have a ton of Shares, likes, comments, etc..... That doesn't really mean anything at the end of the day; It's still tied to that original motivation ... of people wanting to 'feel' a certain way, for Themselves .... So, a person will like, comment on, or share posts from 'popular' people on social media because it makes 'them' feel connected to someone OTHERS like - if a post has 1,000 likes on it, they cannot wait to be like # 1,002 :) It's a psychological thing to a degree; but we need to 'know' more, as human beings, so that we don't get caught up in thinking likes, shares, and comments are important; so we feel less like 'going along' with everyone else; so our personal self esteem is not tied to how OTHERS feel about what we like, share, or comment on..... ### hope this helps someone today -
