[Monstera](https://www.pexels.com/ru-ru/photo/5634767/) Hi, my dear friends! Coincidentally, at the end of October I prepared several posts on the energies of nature at once. It's all about the dates of the holidays of the Wheel of the Year. I want to remind that the Wheel of the Year is a cycle of holidays that mark the brightest points of natural changes. All these holidays are separated from each other for approximately equal periods of about one and a half months. At the moment the Wheel of the Year has made one more small movement forward and now we are standing in front of the gates of <b>Samhain</b>. The energies of this period are very different from the energies of <i>Mabon</i> (September 20) (the day of the autumnal equinox) when we enjoyed warm days and bright colors of the autumn forest. It is also very differet from the next holiday - <i>Yule</i> (December 21), when cold snow will already lie outside. [Tasha_WhiteGold](https://www.pexels.com/ru-ru/photo/10119151/) We rarely mark the transitions from one period to another, because natural changes occur gradually, day after day, sometimes imperceptibly to our attention. The behavior of animals is changing, there are aslo changes with plants. But if we remember the previous holiday, we can easily see how dramatically the picture of the world has changed. The very day of a particular holiday will be the highest point of manifestation of the energies of this period. [Andreas (Public Domain)](https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?curid=1157809) The modern Wheel of the Year, which includes eight holidays, is the union of two so-called "crosses" - Solar and Celtic. The <b>Solar Cross</b> includes two Equinoxes and two Solstices. <b>Celtic (fire) cross</b> points are November 1, February 1, May 1 and August 1. Now these crosses seem to be superimposed on each other and celebrate all the holidays. Samhain is the feast of the Celtic cross. Among the Celts, the New Year came on Samhain, and the new day - when the sun was setting. Samhain - the death of the horned solar God, the beginning of the darkest period of the year. That is why the lights are extinguished in Samhain. The sun god died and the light left the earth. Then a new fire is lit. If we talk about Slavic mythology, then Veles night corresponds to Samhain. Veles is the guardian of the border between the world of people and the world of spirits. Samhain is celebrated for one night - the night of November 1st. But we have already said that the energies of the holiday themselves appear some time before this, reach their peak on the day or night of the holiday, and then gradually reduce their activity. On average, the celebration of Samhain can be said that the corresponding festival lasts three days before November 1 and three after. Like the dates of many holidays, the dates of Samhain have changed somewhat over time. In traditional society, this was the seventeenth day of the second lunar month after the day of the Autumnal Equinox (Mabon). Samhain is the festival of the world of the dead. During this period, the gates between the subtle world (the world of the dead) and the dense world (the world of the living) are open. This is a kind of moment of timelessness, there is no past or future, this is a moment of transition. [pic credit](https://www.pexels.com/ru-ru/photo/5600491/) The aim of the costumes is not to be recognized by yourself and not to recognize aliens from another world. It is believed that contact with the world of the dead does not cause a very pleasant feeling in a person. But at the same time, they often forget that for aliens from the world of the dead, meeting with the living also causes not very pleasant emotions. The Samhain point is often associated with death. The Solar god dies, goes to the world of the dead, leaving his wife, the Earth, a widow. So winter is a period of transformation, when the old tired Earth goes under a shroud of snow, in order to be reborn again in the spring young, beautiful and full of strength. It's kind of a reboot. Samhain is the only point where the sun god and the earth goddess separate. This is a period of death and separation. Insects and annual plants die. The trees are shedding their leaves. In traditional Celtic society during this period, the herds returned from the pastures and the slaughter began. Hence the traditional dish on Samhain of giblets. It was a difficult but necessary measure, because it was impossible to feed the entire herd and then everyone would die. This is a sad period of necessary separation so that life can go on. In a traditional society, one of the obligatory attributes of Samhain were the heads of defeated enemies. With modern society, I think you should not take it so literally, and by defeated enemies you can understand our bad habits, unnecessary things that we can’t part with, etc. During this period, all the traumas with which we have ever come into contact often come to life. All nature is saturated with the energy of parting with something dear. [Aidan Roof](https://www.pexels.com/ru-ru/photo/2449605/) Passing through the energies of Samhain makes it possible to deal with loss of any kind in a healthy way. This is the energy of transition, transformation, which ultimately gives the will to live. The ability to part with something that has outlived its own opens the way to the future. If you tend to get stuck in the past and cannot let it go, then it is especially important to work with the energies of Samhain. It's not about depreciation. The loss must be lived, mourned, but then be sure to let go.
