Two Things That I Learned in Doing Podcast Interviews That I Need to Work On.
Interviewing and asking questions to people isn't natural to me, but I am loving it right now as I learn more about myself and the person whom I am doing the interview with.

I just finished uploading the fifth episode of my podcast, and I am still digesting the stuff that I learned from the experience of publishing one. It was fun and I hope I can get more people to hop into the conversation. Or if time permits, I can interview more and publish at least twice a week.

There are a few listens to the episodes created, but I am not that concerned about that part now. Sure, it is awesome to have high numbers, but the lessons that I am getting are precious for me as a content creator.

In this blog post, I will share the two things I learned when I was doing the interview podcast.

## Old Habits Don't Die.

Being in the call center industry for almost a decade, I had this practice wherein I need to make sure that the other person will know that I am listening by using some affirmative words such as okay, uh-uh, and other fillers. Automatically, I gave acknowledgment cues when taking phone calls.

It is a great practice, but in an interview set-up that I am doing, it is not. Post-production edits are a challenge as I need to cut multiple filler words that I have used all throughout the recording. In one episode that I edited, for the whole interview conversation, I used the word **nice** multiple times just to keep the respondent aware that I am listening.

You wouldn't be hearing those in the finished content that I have posted, but each time I hear myself doing such *my ears bleed for the embarrassment that I had done.*

## Restrictions That I Had Set Unintentionally.

In the podcast interviews I did, I asked people who are in Hive and people who are not in the Hive blockchain. Since I interviewed Hivers close to me, I did not set any restrictions, and the conversation flowed smoothly. The energy in my voice was good too compared to the non-Hiver with that I had a conversation.

Nervousness was also a factor that I am thinking about, but the interviews from folks outside Hive are for improvement. Maybe because I do not know them personally, thus I set an invisible wall and I programmed my mind just to ask whatever is listed in the script and not innovate.

My responses were dull too! Some are sharing a part of their lives, but my response is *"Okay, and then what's next?"*

Don't get me wrong, I am interested but the set of vocabulary that I can use isn't that rich when it comes to conversation. I am a **keyboard warrior** thus putting myself saying what's in my head random stuff isn't a thing that I am used to.

> But you answer phone calls right?

Yes, but phone calls with the process that you had been doing for years are different when you are speaking with someone that is sharing the experience. Plus, I lack empathy, I remember getting failed scores in my calls back then as I forgot to use empathy statements.

------------------------------------------

As I have learned that I lack the following, I need to work on improving myself and how I can make everything better.

I am invested in this project because somehow it is close to my heart, as I can listen to other people's stories and their perspectives as well. I am not aiming to become a top podcaster btw, but having a generic show that can at the very least inspire people to walk the path of being a content creator is something that I hope for.

Being a content creator, made me reflect on my life decisions and plans for the future and I got some monetization on the side so I guess people should definitely try to be one, and in times wherein A.I. Nothing beats a personal story from someone that everyone can relate to.

If you have something in mind that I can improve on, please do not hesitate to leave a comment. I would love to read them and take points as well so that I can have it applied next.
