Why There Are Rules and Needs to Be Followed and When I use The Down Vote Button
Earlier this morning I encountered a post asking why his content is being muted in a certain community.

Upon checking, the reason is that the word count doesn't match the required amount of text that they need inside the community. I had a chat with him and told him and encouraged him to still create content there if his topic is related since that is what the community is for, just making sure that the rules are followed strictly.

I had a fair share of such instances back then, when I started Steemit now Hive I rarely read the community rules and because of that I got some downvotes. It sucks that the potential income for the post was churned, but it deserves that since a simple instruction was not followed.

Now being still a moderator (HivePH) and an admin ( Tagalog trail) there are some rules that I follow by heart and impose on people with whom I am interacting. I rarely use my downvote button, but I do in some cases. My downvote value isn't that high a dust per se but what matters is there's a broken heart in the post signifying that someone downvoted the content.

> Plagiarism?

Downvote for sure, when you plagiarize it will never be an accident that you did it. This is intentional as you have copied someone else's work to post the content here in the blockchain claiming that it is your own. I used my downvote button multiple times for this scenario. I have seen people copy content in Facebook groups and pages about poetry and even Wattpad and at some point somehow I can distinguish if the user is the one who created the piece or not especially if you use Tagalog.

> Sourcing of Image

It is on a case-to-case basis. More often than not, people tend to forget the image source on their post if it was taken from the internet. One or two can be forgiven. Usually if caught, I just drop a sweet comment advising that they might have forgotten to source the image. I assume most of the time that it is forgotten because most of us are not used to doing it.

We believe that CTTO is sufficient but honestly; it isn't cause who is CTTO?

> Word count

I am not that particular with word counts, but I encourage folks to try and at least have more than 250 words in their posts. Some people curate content and run SQL when some parameters are not met posts are weeded out on their feed. Good thing hiveph's bot only follows the format of tags thus I never bother to use HiveSQL anymore. I did at some point as I needed to pull some data with accounting stuff, but I haven't used it anymore.

This is just a random blabber, making sure that I can create a daily post within the time allowed and somehow give you a glimpse of what is on my mind when I curate posts within the community I belong to.
