Retro gaming fans will remember Quake II, it was iconic. Especially that entrance area. The way id Software eased gamers into the battle was spot on with pacing. It is now re-imagined thanks to AI by Microsoft. Particularly their Copilot and Muse AI programs. If you remember the Will Smith eating spaghetti, or Rock eating rocks, then you know how bad this is going to be. That was 2023 though, look at where video AI is now, barely two years later. Imagine where this type of gaming AI will be in just one year, let alone two. <h2>Let’s Make Fun While We Can</h2> This is one of those articles that will go down in history being pointed at making fun of how I feel about the quality of the AI right now. That will be later when the AI has improved to the point that it is nearly impossible to definitively say they stem from the same source. We are not there yet and this looks horrible. Enemies disappear, remains are left when there should be none, whole sections of levels are made up or change as you are playing. It is bad. Plain and simple, it sucks. Sure, graphically, this is impressive. It is amazing they are getting this level of performance out of it already. It is coming out of the chute running, basically skipping the walking or crawling stages. That is scary. How long before new games will be a prompt away? “Make a game like Fortnite but using Steamboat Willy black and white graphics art style” could someday result in unimaginable results.
