I am the same, I spent most of my life without a smartphone. I only recently, in the last four years, really paid attention to what a smartphone even was and sought one out. I prefer to keep my phone in the glove box while driving, or on silent and face down when I am playing games or reading a book. 

They are easily a distraction when doing other things.
