I Just Got CoinMarket (With Some Help By @Tarazkp) To Update Their Link From The Old Shitty ANN To The New Less Shitty One

This is my second post for today, it's pretty late and I was about to sleep. But I just got a mail that got me really excited and had to blog about it.

So, here's the thing. Today morning I was browsing https://coinmarketcap.com and out of curiosity I clicked the page for STEEM. And then tried out the various links and discovered that the ANN link pointed back to the very first Ann of Steemit. Now, that ANN is just a mess.

World's shittiest ANN?

No info about the coin, no info about the devs, no mention of steemit being the first block-chain powered social network, no fancy graphs, no nothing. Everything is a red flag and leaves the impression of a pump and dump scamcoim (some will say that's how it actually started). Yeah, there is a big link there saying the ANN has moved but I doubt many click it.

So, I used the request form coinmarket provides and asked them to update the link to the new ANN. And to increase the chances of somebody actually reading the message I asked the guys over #DANGER_ZONE at steemit.chat to do the same:

As in real life, everybody ignored me. Everybody, except @tarazkp:

And here's the mail I just got:

That was fast! I guess they couldn't resist the beautiful smile of @tarazkp!

But in all seriousness, I think this highlights a serious marketing problem. I am sure coinmarket is the first place many small and perhaps big investors visit to check up what coins to buy. And then they click the links coinmarket provides for those coins. Personally, the ANN link is the first and only link I check and I think we can all agree how important the first impression is! If I didn't know anything about steemit and had clicked that link I would have closed it immediately and looked for new coins to invest. I can't imagine and can't say how many potential investors we have lost from something simple like this!

All it took me was 5 minutes to get it fixed. Yeah, all that talk about SMT's and communities and future features to come is nice. But if the marketing team has missed something so simple I can't imagine what else they have missed. @ned definitely needs to give them a good spanking.

In other news, please check this post by @furiouspete. It's so fucking nice to finally see some HODLING mentality here, especially from a celebrity like him. He just won a small vote from me on all his future posts.

Oh, and something else. As I mentioned a few days ago, even the new ann is pretty abandoned and I am trying to bring new life to it by answering newbie questions and countering all the fud that's going there. But if it's only me doing that it will definitely look weird! If you have an account over bitcointalk come, join me and let's make it look a bit more active and positive :) Here's my latest reply to give you an idea of what I am trying to do there:

Goodnight!
