 That mountain town; where everyone knows everyone; except tourists. Where you feel everyone's eyes on you, and it gets under your skin and into your nerves. The kind of place with a low murder rate, but an oddly high disappearance rate. The kind of place they tell you is safe; but you can hear screams sometimes in the night.  I had been off oil painting for a while. It is a difficult medium for me to master, too often ending up tacky and dog-haired. Add the mess and smells of different mediums, as well as my lack of luck with the water mixable version, has made me look for alternatives to oil paints like open acrylics. This week I thought I would try a new and different brand of water mixable oil paint Glad I did; this is the first in a long while that I enjoyed the feel and texture of the paint.  This first piece is just an experiment, but it may become more than that. I started it blocking in a simple vision with the liner brush.  I basically threw the paint on. This piece would just be me getting to know the new medium; getting weird and enjoying myself. The fingers and eyes were a part of my original vision; but their shape and pattern of appearance slowly evolved as I explored my brain with the paint.  Above is how it looked before I went to bed Monday night, and below is how it has since evolved.  Putting it aside for a while as it is becoming tacky. Will work on it again when dry.
