One of the common most used phrases to tell someone that building anything takes time is the phrase “Rome was not built in one day.” It is a phrase by a famous English playwriter, John Heywood. He lived a hundred years ago and his words and phrases still live today. One of his famous sayings is “Better to be late than never.” [src](https://www.wanderlustchloe.com/facts-about-rome/) They did not truly build the beautiful city of Rome in a day, but they were adding to it every day. We all have listened to one to a few motivational speakers saying “make every day count.” I believe there is no reasonable human with no dream or ambition to build something. It could be a better habit on something, building a business, relation, skills or anything that takes time. The build up time may not be so interesting because of the process, mistakes and failures you may pass through, but it is important to build up every day. Every block you lay gives you a better edge to achieve your aims. Knowing and saying the phrase alone will do nothing. You need to always lay your bricks to build up and it does not matter how long it takes. What matters is for you show up every day to build up. The result is more important than the failures in-between the process. Start small and lay your bricks.
