### **Translated by [ChatGPT](https://chat.openai.com/ "chatgpt")**.

Today my day on **[Splinterlands](https://splinterlands.com?ref=underlock "underlock splinterlands")** started off quite funny because the first four matches I played were very similar, all focusing on the **Last Stand** https://i.imgur.com/jma006B.png and/or **Martyr** https://i.imgur.com/l9IllIK.png abilities. These abilities work well, especially in survival-focused matches that usually feature Rule Sets like **Earthquake** https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/splinterlands/images/1/14/Combat-rule_earthquake.png/revision/latest/scale-to-width-down/25?cb=20210209072022 and **Noxious Fumes** https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/splinterlands/images/8/80/Combat-rule_noxious-fumes.png/revision/latest/scale-to-width-down/25?cb=20210209072022, or in situations where the low mana available favors choosing a single extremely buffed card with these effects.

The coincidence was that I got a streak of battles with these characteristics and tried to apply both mentioned abilities in different compositions, generating good material for us to analyze, so that’s what we will do today.

# **Battle 1**

![](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/underlock/EoATwU2MfujLM5Urud1Hf1S9f6vJZdkoGEuN8jyfDeBTADEB4oPqkGU4RhU7GbHCs3o.png)

This first battle was the easiest choice of all, as there were only 13 mana available, and with the **Earth** https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/splinterlands/images/a/a4/Splinter-earth.png/revision/latest/scale-to-width-down/15?cb=20210212224207 element available, there is a card in my collection that fits perfectly in this space. If you are an older player, you surely remember the once-feared **Kron the Undying**.

[![Battle 1.](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/underlock/23tv8acu5iPhDgyMuqBeiP5iwoRGeeH8mgx7aPAu5dy3Zbk5eEtBg8ym54oZF4fND4dJd.png)](https://splinterlands.com?p=battle&id=sl_10800de58d58b26e0e777fcfad6f60cd&ref=underlock)

Although his glory days have passed with the release of new collections, Kron is still a very useful Ace in low mana matches, especially if you own him at level 3. Since he possesses the **Last Stand** https://i.imgur.com/jma006B.png ability himself, you don’t need to rely on the Llama summoner to unleash his full potential.

Even though it worked well in this battle, this strategy has a major flaw due to the lack of a **Cleanse** https://imgur.com/bU5XReT.png to protect Kron. The presence of a **Doctor Blight**, for example, is enough to completely break this strategy, where the Llama is sorely missed.

# **Battle 2**

![](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/underlock/23uFHFdgiUMiYJ2PLWKLsoapkVuCNB9K67qW5rwx8T9jv3cWz74ZLmtXxF5BfWAQ16W6K.png)

Next, I encountered these Rule Sets, and since I was eager to use **Kron the Undying**, I decided to create another strategy with this focus, but this time leveraging **Equal Opportunity** https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/splinterlands/images/f/f4/Combat-rule_equal-opportunity.png/revision/latest/scale-to-width-down/25?cb=20210209072022 to direct enemy attacks towards my **Martyr** https://i.imgur.com/l9IllIK.png cards. The idea was to apply this buff twice on Kron and then leave him alone on the field to activate **Last Stand** https://i.imgur.com/jma006B.png and create an unstoppable killing machine.

[![Battle 2.](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/underlock/23tknH9RYVKcrDVtJkChCTmPWaZt4rVE71TTUqNPUR7Lp7byXLtKyKzHmLW1DFD1Yp3H3.png)](https://splinterlands.com?p=battle&id=sl_88624723ec298dc9276bca09d234efe9&ref=underlock)

The idea seemed good, and I believed it would work, but I didn’t count on an opponent doing something similar, but worse. While I tried to make Kron extremely powerful, my opponent focused on repeatedly reviving his **Venari Marksrat** to apply **Martyr** https://i.imgur.com/l9IllIK.png again and again to his cards, making them extremely buffed.

Even though I managed to achieve my goal and place Kron on the field with **Last Stand** https://i.imgur.com/jma006B.png and two **Martyr** https://i.imgur.com/l9IllIK.png effects, my opponent activated three https://i.imgur.com/l9IllIK.png effects on two units, raising their damage capacity to absurd levels.

![](https://images.hive.blog/500x500/https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/underlock/23tvCwCYt1nVme1EjpS3EjwK9774y9gxTNrLayZmGEaVVwJNQPFPuefqz8LfgLpmbzPxF.png)

Just the **Drybone Raider** is capable of dealing 20 DAMAGE in a round, making Kron’s survival impossible. If I had broadened my horizons and done the same with my own Raider, things might have turned out differently.

---

# **Battle 3**

Notice that in both cases, there were major flaws in my strategy. With so many new cards and abilities released with the new **[Splinterlands](https://splinterlands.com?ref=underlock "underlock splinterlands")** collections, it has become difficult to rely on just one card to do all the work because there are countless ways to stop such advances. A big one was my third battle, which seemed to be just a replay of the first but with the benefit of using an extra **Martyr** https://i.imgur.com/l9IllIK.png card. However, things didn’t turn out that way.

[![Battle 3.](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/underlock/48HeNRkMuGrPEZ2cmBbC88DtyPNV5462B65Z79GvJiQZLb3tZN5cd3QmHm3cvSbKkp.png)](https://splinterlands.com?p=battle&id=sl_d404709ce2d43135faa470f632e26bd8&ref=underlock)

The idea seemed great, but the presence of two cards with **Immunity** https://imgur.com/x2ActeT.png and the **Stun** https://d36mxiodymuqjm.cloudfront.net/website/abilities/small/ability_stun.png ability completely broke my strategy. The sequence of Stuns applied prevented my healing entirely, and little by little, Kron was defeated. In this specific situation, I admit I failed miserably in my decision because I should have opted for Kron if there had been 17 mana available to pair him with the **Scarred Llama Mage** summoner. But since that wasn’t the case, the best choice would certainly have been **Quora Towerhead** since she also possesses the **Immunity** https://imgur.com/x2ActeT.png ability, which would protect her from the continuous damage of **Noxious Fumes** https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/splinterlands/images/8/80/Combat-rule_noxious-fumes.png/revision/latest/scale-to-width-down/25?cb=20210209072022 and also prevent her from being **Stunned** https://d36mxiodymuqjm.cloudfront.net/website/abilities/small/ability_stun.png.

https://images.hive.blog/250x250/https://d36mxiodymuqjm.cloudfront.net/cards_by_level/gladius/Quora%20Towershead_lv3.png

Not to mention that **Martyr** https://i.imgur.com/l9IllIK.png + potential kills would be much more effective by increasing Quora’s two types of damage. This is yet another reflection I could draw from today’s sequence of battles, and I hope not to make the same mistakes in the next matches.

# **Batalha 1**

![](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/underlock/EoATwU2MfujLM5Urud1Hf1S9f6vJZdkoGEuN8jyfDeBTADEB4oPqkGU4RhU7GbHCs3o.png)

[![Batalha 1.](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/underlock/23tv8acu5iPhDgyMuqBeiP5iwoRGeeH8mgx7aPAu5dy3Zbk5eEtBg8ym54oZF4fND4dJd.png)](https://splinterlands.com?p=battle&id=sl_10800de58d58b26e0e777fcfad6f60cd&ref=underlock)

# **Batalha 2**

![](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/underlock/23uFHFdgiUMiYJ2PLWKLsoapkVuCNB9K67qW5rwx8T9jv3cWz74ZLmtXxF5BfWAQ16W6K.png)

[![Batalha 2.](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/underlock/23tknH9RYVKcrDVtJkChCTmPWaZt4rVE71TTUqNPUR7Lp7byXLtKyKzHmLW1DFD1Yp3H3.png)](https://splinterlands.com?p=battle&id=sl_88624723ec298dc9276bca09d234efe9&ref=underlock)

![](https://images.hive.blog/500x500/https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/underlock/23tvCwCYt1nVme1EjpS3EjwK9774y9gxTNrLayZmGEaVVwJNQPFPuefqz8LfgLpmbzPxF.png)

# **Batalha 3**

[![Batalha 3.](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/underlock/48HeNRkMuGrPEZ2cmBbC88DtyPNV5462B65Z79GvJiQZLb3tZN5cd3QmHm3cvSbKkp.png)](https://splinterlands.com?p=battle&id=sl_d404709ce2d43135faa470f632e26bd8&ref=underlock)

https://images.hive.blog/250x250/https://d36mxiodymuqjm.cloudfront.net/cards_by_level/gladius/Quora%20Towershead_lv3.png
