The Calgary Zoo was founded in 1929 and is one of the most visited family’s attractions in the city. I confess that I was a little discouraged about going there on Spring Break week, but the kids insisted, and we went! It had been years since I had been at a zoo - I feel sorry for the animals trapped and out of their habitats - but I was surprised to learn that despite the weather conditions, the animals are kept in air-conditioned rooms.

There is a train station that gives access inside the zoo's ticket office. Another option is to get there by car (there is a parking lot attached to it).

Right at the entrance, the zoo's main attraction: the penguins! Depending on the weather, the zoo organizes the Penguin Walk, but on that #Wednesdaywalk, it was suspended. We could observe the penguins being fed and swimming in the aquarium.

The zoo has many different species and is divided according to the continents.

It is very nice to see the animals so close, but I still have doubts about animals in captivity. Although the climate conditions of the planet are changing, causing the extinction of the local fauna and flora, having some species conserved might be a nice idea, but nothing like wildlife as it is.

# Passeando no Zoológico de Calgary

O Zoológico de Calgary foi fundado em 1929 e é uma das atrações mais visitadas por famílias na cidade. Confesso que estava um pouco desanimada com este passeio na 4ª. Feira do Spring Break, porém as crianças insistiram e fomos! Fazia anos que não ia ao zoológico – fico com dó dos animais presos e fora do seu habita – porém fui surpreendida em saber que apesar das condições climáticas, os animais são mantidos em salas climatizadas.
Existe uma estação de trem que dá acesso dentro da bilheteria do zoológico.
Logo na entrada, a atração principal do zoo: os pinguins! Dependendo do clima, o zoo organiza o Penguin Walk, mas neste dia estava suspenso. Pudemos observar os pinguins sendo alimentados e nadando no aquário.
O zoo tem bastante espécies diferentes regiões, e é dividido conforme os continentes. 
 
É muito legal ver os animais de perto, porém ainda fico em dúvida sobre animais em cativeiro. Apesar das condições climáticas do planeta estar mudando, causando a extinção da fauna e flora locais, ter algumas espécies conservadas pode ser uma idéia bacana, mas nada como a vida selvagem como ela é.
