Everyone would agree with me that this has been a few rough weeks for us all? With Russian-Ukraine conflict to Gas price surge and also Asuu strike for we the public university students here in Nigeria. ASUU (Academic staff union of universities) Let's talk about the setbacks. # SETBACKS This literally translates to having obstacles or delay on a particular thing or life as a whole. Which in this article i will whole heatedly let you know that i have been going through setbacks for the past one month now, first of all let me begin with my life challenges which is getting tougher and tougher everyday with no improvements at all. Yes that's a major setback for me both financially and otherwise. # SETBACKS ***ASUU STRIKE(ACADEMIC STAFF UNION OF UNIVERSITIES)***: Now every student in Nigeria will be familiar with this term, whether undergraduate or post-graduate and most graduates. The union embarked on strike for a month now due to unpaid salaries so all academic activities in public universities has been put on hold till further notice. Last time the union embarked on a strike was from March 2020 till October or November 2020 that's was atleast an 8 months strike. This has thrown many students off there game, many of us should be entering a new Academic year by now but that's not going to happen, not atleast for another 3 months. ***FUEL SCARCITY***: I believe this one is kind of global due to the conflict between Russia-Ukraine, so that has been a major problem for everyone as the price of Gas hits $7 per gallon. Honestly though i do not have a car so why am i complaining? Well i am complaining because the orice of goods has shut up in the market not to talk about the price of transportation. Thats disturbing for us the poor masses, not to talk of the high rate of crimes going on. Well the christians would say that this is all signs of the end time. The second coming of Christ. ***JOBLESSNESS***: Oh yes that's true, the rate of unemployment is seconded by none. Right now anyone looking for a white collar job would have to start building his/her company because there is none, or should i say there is but the rich kept better positions for their kids? I do not know but probably, all i know is that it is very difficult to get a job. > SOMEONE WOULD ASK HOW DOES ALL THESE AFFECT ME PERSONALLY OR CAUSE ME SETBACKS? As an undergraduate who should be studying by now but unable to do it due to the strike, it throws me off my game because if i am not schooling my rent is wasting, my brain is getting dull. I am a civil engineering student who has love for creativity, architecture,designing and building. I can barely do that because i can't afford to buy a laptop to design structures properly. I sometimes opt for pencil work for the designing but that's a bit old fashion and people barely have money to feed not to talk about building a house or buying a plan from me. Even when i try to check out few things online to get myself a little penny, then i remember buying petrol to charge my phone is another problem. Then i would have to kind how i use my mobile phone. If not for the strike atleast i would be class learning. All these has been my major setbacks from showing my designs to the world because i can't afford to get a laptop, when i get a laptop it would make my work so much easier. If someone wants to purchase my building plans, i would just have the design sent to the mail direct if they wish to use another Engineer that isn't me but atleast i would earn something from selling my design that would help me take care of little bills in school. Staying idle doing nothing is the worst thing that could happen to anyone, no income . The only income you would get is incoming insults, 😂. Not funny though but that's the fact. I wish my prayers would be answered someday and hey, i might be the one to design and build your home for you. Yes just tell me what you want and i will deliver exactly what you paid for. No kidding. Thank you for your time reading my posts and knowing the setbacks i am facing personally. There are also people going through the same or more. I pray all our prayers get answered AMEN.
