NICOTINE ACID (niacin), or vitamin PP, pharmacologically attributed to group "B" (water-soluble). This derivative of pyridine (C6H5O2N) is also called an antipellagric vitamin, since its deficiency is caused by pellagra-impairment of the activity of nerve cells in the cortex of the cerebral hemispheres and other parts of the central and peripheral nervous system. External manifestations are coarsening of the skin ("pell agra" in Italian), caused by disorders of carbohydrate metabolism, cellular respiration, liver functions.
In addition to scaly inflamed skin rashes, mucosal lesions, intestinal disorders and catarrhal conditions of the stomach, a deficiency of niacin leads to mental disorders. It's terrible to say how many people went through clinics for the insane, although their disease was easily cured by including nicotinic acid in the diet. The daily norm for an adult is from 15 to 23 mg. Niacin is taken together with the amino acid tryptophan, but even better - in a balanced complex and with other, equally important components. Our body can itself transform 60 mg of tryptophan in 1 mg of nicotinic acid, so its deficiency can be compensated by tryptophan.
Symptoms of nicotinic acid deficiency:
Reddening and itching of the skin of the face and upper body;
• abnormal heart rhythm;
• disorders of the gastrointestinal tract;
• Depression, disorientation, hallucinations, delusions.
The failure to take quick action leads to death. With an overdose - almost the same external
manifestations.
CONCLUSION: do not rush from extremes to extremes - simple help to the body will allow
he himself can cope - the norm can not be prevented !!
